What they don't realize is that every language is the same way, including their own. There are hundreds of sounds but most alphabets only have 15-50 characters to represent them.

Most people don't tend to notice it in their own language though.

Simple. "Bea" has the same vowel sound as the english word Bed (called "open" E). eaux (eau, au, aux) is just plain "Oh" (pure vowel, no oU diphthong if you're getting technical xD)

A friend of mine who's lived in wales explain the w to me as being "something like uo". Y is pronounced (more or less) as u, but c is still c (so Cymru, welsh for wales, is pronounced "cum-ree" though the u has a hint of a at the start.)

Coo-un Annoo-un and Coo-un Curf are how I'd guess they're pronounced.
