so we're looking at a staggering presedence set by history itself, I know you may want to argue that it's the writers decision, but hey guys guess what fictional character.Originally Posted by Sonomaa
like I've said previosly, Batman is like OCD about stacking the deck in his favor. He knows Supes is going to be his most difficult challenge if it comes to them needing to fight. And for a fictional character, canon is in fact all you can base it on, because their existance depends entirely on what has been writen.Originally Posted by edgarfigaro

anyone else remember when batman had those like 3 foot long ears at a point in the comics?

So I haven't read any batman or superman comics, but when they did fight each other, is the main reason superman can't beat batman is because he doesn't want to kill him? So he doesn't just do the cheap thing and fly his fist 1000mph into batmans head, or something that isn't humanly possible to react to.
Superman won't kill someone if he is in his right state of mind. Batman on the other hand would kill someone if it came to it, and I think has before.Originally Posted by Blarg
I lol at the people who say supes would never kill. Yeah cause batman would. Seriously, no holds would go to supes.
where do you get stuff like this =p i saw a couple of them somewhereOriginally Posted by Havocxx
oh, and sea man would pwn them both
Lobo wins, not because he's inherently stronger than Superman, but because he doesn't care if he explodes the solar system in order to win.Originally Posted by Krandor
Batman wins vs. Superman.
Even Adam West Batman would have some crap like "Kryptonian-uber-menschen-repellent Bat-spray".

I wasn't talking about people who could beat Superman, just that he isn't as overpowered as people think he is. After the first Crisis, Superman was massively depowered, he couldn't move planets anymore, he could fly so fast that he could go back in time, he didn't have super cold breath or super elastic facial muscles (I did not make that up, that was an actual power he had for a while). The problem with Superman was that nothing was a challenge for him because he was so damn super so they had to put Kryptonite everywhere. There was so much Kryptonite that you could go to your corner 7-11 and pick up a pound for $.50. (But remember, back then you could buy a loaf of breat for $.10 so you have to properly adjust for inflation.) After the Crisis John Byrne reworked Superman's powers to a steady set and to a reasonable level that set him at the top of the charts for strength but not so strong to explain why losers could actually warrant more than two panels of space where Superman would flick them into the sun with his pinky. I think that these changes made Superman into a much better heroic figure, he was no longer a walking deus ex machina would could solve every problem with a new power that no one ever saw before and was never seen again- and this is the very reason that the editorial staff at DC is working feverishly to undo every positive change that Byrne put into the series so that Superman and be ridiculously overpowered and utterly unreadable yet again.Originally Posted by Krandor
Pretty much every time Lobo and Superman fight it is an even match, I would say that he and Martian Manhunter are about as strong as Superman. (I consider J'onn to be stronger because his list of powers makes Superman look like Ambush Bug.) Superman has stated in the past that a Daximite under a yellow sun is stronger than him. (This may have been erased when Superboy Prime punched the universe since DC hates contenuity.) Darkseid is probably the strongest of the normal (non-magically powered) beings in the DC universe. And of course the Spectre is the right hand of "the Presence".
But anyway, I wouldn't count the Marvel/DC thing for two reasons. First off, it wasn't continuity, second off no one could beat Wolverine in a vote. Really, no one would win in a popular vote fight against Wolverine: Ronald Reagan, the Pilsberry Doughboy, Mother Theresa, Mary Lou Retton, Jerry Seinfeld, Jesus- no one can get the raw number of votes needed to defeat Wolverine's legion of fan-boys. Wolverine truly is the best at what he does, and that is to make fan-boys buy any comic that he is in. Even the artists and writers though that Wolverine beating Lobo was so ridiculous that they didn't even show the fight. They didn't even attempt to make it clever like the Spider-Man/Superboy fight where even though Superboy was technically stronger, Spider-Man was smarter and had a lot more experience. (Same with Aquaman and Namor, Aquaman won because Namor was too noble to cheat.) Nope, just an off panel fight.
And I intentionally left Superboy Prime off of the list because he really isn't from the DC Universe anymore, but were he on the list he would top Darkseid by leaps and bounds. Honestly, I am not a huge fan of evil Superboy Prime.
Forgive me for not being diehard fans like many people in this thread, but can somebody explain why Superman would fight Batman in the first place (considering it has happened in the comics)? I was under the impression that both fought for the cause of "good".
Even though this Supes is dead, it looks like they will revive him. >.>Originally Posted by Krandor
Superboy-Prime is still part of the story-- in fact, I believe he will be the new Evil Mastermind Supervillian behind the dangers DC has in store for everyone. I mean, he punched the walls of reality and did all kinds of shit to people. And they have Guy Gardner guarding his cell... all the basis openings for a big disaster in the making.Originally Posted by Septimus
