    Podcasts

I know this forum is good for all general knowledge and I'm sure there are Itunes users here, anyway..
This afternoon I got the 80 gb ipod. I came back to work and downloaded a couple podcasts, PTI and The 1up show.
I listened to the full PTI and then plugged my ipod back into the comp to remove it from my Ipod, but was surprised to find it had been deleted automatically.
Then I went to watch the 1up Show. It was a video or you could listen. So I stopped halfway through because I wanted to listen in my car, but then I couldn't turn off the Ipod when it was still in Now Playing. Like I went to pause it and then turn it off, and it wouldn't work. So I plugged it back into my comp and POOF it had disappeared my Ipod as well. It is still on the comp so I could add it again.
All this has me really worried though that something is wrong with my Ipod/Computer. Is there something setting I can change in Itunes or the Ipod itself to make this not happen?
Thanks for any input guys and gals.

The podcasts are still in your ipod, just not in the podcast section. Once it syncs up with your computer and you listened to the podcast already it removes it from the list. Not exactly the greatest way to work it, but apparently thats how they do it.

A podcast about MMO's, mostly EVE, but it's pretty funny most the time.

If I uncheck the sync option for podcasts will it not do this?
And if it is still in my ipod but not on the list, how can I remove it or listen to it?
Thanks for the response PussPuss, hopefully you can help me out here again.
PS - I have itunes 7 so you know which to refer to.

For me you can find the podcasts under artists and albums. They also rarely come up when I shuffle songs, which is retarded. In the podcast settings (I think in your ipod section, not the library one) you can set it up to delete off of your ipod after you listened to it and connect it to the computer again I think. Your best bet would be instead of syncing podcasts to set them manually and turn off syncing for it. I'm pretty sure you would just drag and drop which ones you want and they'll prolly stay on the podcast list, but I haven't tried it so I'm not sure. I still sync the newest 3 I haven't listened too from each podcaster.

I put naked pics of Haxil on my ipod.

I used to have the same problem about holding down the pause button to turn off my ipod and nothing happening. I think it was just my inexperience with an ipod b/c it doesn't happen anymore, if that makes sense.

    Keith and the Girl!! Yes.

I never Sync my iPod, as I have it authorized on a few comps and it just tends to get too confused as to what it thinks should be in my Music Library.

As far as your not being able to turn it off, that has happened from time to time to me as well, and generally if i just go out to the menu list I can power it off from there. Not sure why it happens or if it is my own damn fault but that is what I do when it does happen.

For Podcasts I set up Smart Playlists. So for KATG for example, when i listen to one show it then removes it from my Playlist (which will play podcasts back to back) but not from my actual iPod until i do it manually.

So i can listen to the podcast from the Podcast folder, or the specific Podcast Playlist i have made specifically for it (and again the Smart Playlist allows me to listen to consecutive shows.)

There are a few good FAQS/How To's on Apple's site for Podcasts.
