Ice Age of Gil incoming?

There are honestly a few good ways to make the "day to day" gil you need without much effort at all. Here are a few ways I have discovered that have been pretty easy and have added up over time.

For those who dont craft

• Sheepskin>Sheep Leather does wonders. Get a high lvl and /THF in Konschat Highlands. Aggro and Link all the sheep where Mary pops and pop some sort of AoE. On average I get about 6 sheepskins of the bunch. Take a Stack of Dark Crystals (which you can farm the clusters in Xarcabard) and buy the Windy Tea Leaves in Distilled Water from a NPC (about 100 gil/stack each) then make the skin into leather. It may seem simplistic but if you make 7 stacks of the leather youre looking at over 100k for about an hours worth of work.

(the leather is lvl 3 Leathercraft so ANYONE can do this)

For those with Woodworking to 60

First thing you need to do is get the "Wood Enscrollment" Key Item from your guild points. When you hit that lvl make Oak Cudgels and Ethereal Oak Lumber (Both are about a lvl 45 synth and if you buy the logs from an NPC or you HQ the Logs it should only cost you 6k/synth). Take those synths and turn them into Warp Cudgels. I have three mules selling 7 of these per day on Ifrit. They sell for about 20k/cudgel and they sell like crazy. I never have a day when they dont sell.

So using Mathmatics 20,000-6,000=14,000X21=294,000 gil profit daily.

I'd take a SS of carbuncle but PS2 ftl Was about 3x as many as that Bahamut SS though. Was also a small group on the northen edge of that same coast.

I think the interesting part about the SS is that they're all 'new' players.

heh quite some time, but you can easily profit all the way. Since the fatigue system after about 200 catches or something you can't really fish anymore until after JP midnight.

I'm level 40 and I only started trying to skill up like four months ago.

Like many have said, it's quite obvious that ToAU was designed to balance the economy. A lot of stuff cost IS/AP/Imperial currency rather than gil. And most quest rewards are Aht Urhgan currency unlike the gil rewards during the ancient pre-CoP days.

On a side-note, wtf is this fishing fatigue I hear? Last time I fished, all we had to do was press the X button or the Enter key.

You've got to jiggle the rod enough to tire out the fish before you can catch it now. There's also this 200 (I think?) fish limit before you start getting items (or nothing) while fishing.

Assuming you're not particularly impatient, you can start fishing with pretty much nothing (eg. 20k rod, 500 gil worth of bait) and fish for profit the entire time along the way. It just requires a LOT more time than most people are willing to invest. That said, with the current deflation, fishing keeps looking more and more attractive.

heh, yeah, I remember the "good old days." To be honest though, I like the new system better. It is considerably harder, but skill-ups come much quicker than they used to. The trade-off is that you can't be laying on the couch half-asleep with your eyes closed waiting for the controller vibration that represents a bite anymore.
