    goddamn linksys (router halp)

alright, since linksys customer support is a useless bag of shit, i figure some people here will know whats wrong

Yesterday my router was all like "hay im werkin" then it was all "hey jk"

Basically, when my router is connected, internet isn't working. When the modem in here is connected, it works fine. This happened one time before but it worked maybe like 6-7 hours later. I asked customer support on linksys and they told me to go to 192.168.1.1, which doesnt do shit.

If anyone knows anything that might help, id appreciate it. if not, i hope you get hurt or something irl

192.168.1.1 (default user and pass : admin) should take you to the router settings on all linksys routers....at least all the ones ive seen/used

i had the same problem with my linksys router and after trying everything method of fixing it i finally found what works wonders.

first you need to go the back of the router and look for where the power cable plugs in.

disconnect the power from the wall, not the router. this is important!

now take the router, place it bottom side up. you should see a serial number label.

key your eye on this label as you smash the shit out of the router with a hammer.

discard the piece of crap and plug in/connect the new non-linksys router and enjoy not having to rip your hair out over shitty technology

trust me, ive tried everything and this is the best thing you can ever do

I hate lynksys, get a wireless card (buy it online) my wireless router has 11.0 mbps at an excellent signal, any wireless card that plugs into the back of your comp gets 54.0mbps at excellent signal

If I may ask, what Router is it?

I have a Linksys WRT54G version 5 that was utter crap, but then I flashed on a firmware replacement called DD-WRT and the change was amazing.

So amazing I ordered a WRT54GL and switched my Linksys WAP to DD-WRT.

Linksys is a pet company of Cisco, so I feel they aren't hellspawn right off the bat. It's just when they farm out work (like the firmware on the later WRT54Gs) to some crappy company that makes crap firmware that I question them.

yeah, i was thinkin about that, but i think my pci card is a linksys in the other room =x

I have a wireless card in my other pc <_< its 54.0 mbs at excellent and it says its connected now, but thats a crock of shit cause, i assure you theres no fuckin connection. Can only get on this pc without the router attached, and cant connect with the other pc whatsoever.

Alright, so i guess ill get a new router =/

Any recommendations? Kinda need one that doesnt cockblock non-brand pci cards, cause i think the one on the other pc is a linksys. Money isn't really an issue, but i would like to be efficient if thats the word i should be using. However, if theres a really really really really good quality one i should know about thats a bit pricey id still like to know

are you sure its simply because the modem isn't reading the router?

keep the router plugged in, but unplug the MODEM, then plug the modem back in.

then turn on your PC, and it should work lol.
