Yeah, unfortunately the only way I could get it to work was:
- Install Vana'Diel collection DVD, all expansion packs.
- Copy over my entire POL & FFXI folders from my XP install partition (which I didn't nuke)
- Start up POL, it will do a checkfiles then restart itself.
- Get into FFXI, it will do a checkfiles, then you're good to go.
If you didn't save your previous POL install, I have no idea how to get it to work other than getting an updated directory in a .zip from someone you trust.
On a side note, Vista is pretty badass...enjoying it so far. I'm still worried about the activation stuff, though I'm running the enterprise version + enterprise key server so I can activate myself when I need it. I just think Microsoft is going to patch that somehow in one of their required updates, and they will ninja it with no documentation that thats what they are doing.
POL viewer has an update addressing Vista compatibility. Nothing that helps, just an fyi. It says that they don't plan to have it working until sometime after Vista's official release.
