I've started the push myself, however, interest is small.

I'm starting to believe more and more that the only true way to accomplish anything in this game is a small group of static friends....this from a RDM who leveled up to this day never wanting a static for fear of the lockdown it puts on you if one person doesn't show.

Nowadays, I just want to find 5-12 other people I can consistently count on in the game with similar minded goals as me. Honestly, I envision a good Salvage LS or Salvage static would be best made up of 3-6 Assault Statics with similar schedules. You'd be guaranteed the AP is always flowing, you've been with (at least) your own static long enough to count on people, and you know eachother's tactics pretty well. I do believe that if/when I get some salvage runs going on a consistent basis (which may wait until I move, considering I'll be going from EST to CET-yup central european time), I will aim for a setup like this:

6 3-man assault statics who can take advantage of one like Golden Salvage.

    a twice weekly Salvage static.

group does ISNMs together for the khroma ore, sells other drops for Imperial Wootz Ingots.

group does KS30s for the O. Ingots, sells other drops for other needed items.

Farms other items (wamoura and marid items) along with exping for IS points.

Basically, a group that has a very "family" mentality about being a full service salvage shell, not just one that gets you your drops then says "have fun paying the 8 million+ for that body upgrade!" ahh probably a pipe dream though...

Yes I realize this is from Allah... But still this dude claims there are 50ish completed pieces already (On Siren). Personally this claim seems a bit outrageous to me but unless someone can deny it I won't. If anyone on Siren sees this it would be nice to see if this claim is actually true.

I do know that based on the info at Aircommand's JP site and BG that there are at least 5 sets that have enough info to collect all three pieces - Ares Body, Morrigan Cuffs, Marduk's Legs, Usukane Head and Feet. It's really hard to determine the overall difficulty of Salvage since 2 of the zones are still unbeaten to my knowledge (can't open the 6th floor door...). I do know that you can beat Silver Seas with 9 and I have seen claims of a 7 man Bhaflau win.

I think that trying to plan a Salvage LS or Salvage rules would be a bit premature at this point since so little is known. It would be like trying to figure out how to distribute dynamis AF2 drops without knowing where everything drops or the difficulty. At this point, the best situation would be to do informal groups of friends and just explore in my opinion. Some players are drawn to items while others are drawn to new material/exploration. Once all the information gets sorted out I'm sure everyone will be interested as the gear is amazing.

The good majority of these boards just completely rapes any new material the day it comes out (Hydra, Khimaira, Cerberus come to mind), then complains about it. I think Salvage is actually taking people longer than 2-3 days to figure out so it's frustrating to some.

Guy is lying. Would have seen a SS on BG from one of our many Sirin Trolls (tm) if it were true.

Edit: the guy (Habernack) even claims to have 2/3 pieces of Morrigan Robe (along with Novio Earring, G.Weskit, etc)

His purchase history (http://www.ffxiah.com/player.php?id=419914&sid=28) doesn't really inspire me to think he is as much of high-powered player as he likes to talk.

I can't vouch for Hapernack's claims of upgraded pieces or particular salvage drops, but I can say hes been playing on the server for along time and is in an established shell. I've been on a few adventures with him in my time. He definitely is not just a clueless noob.

Pretty hard to gather interest in my LS, I'm thinking about starting a semi-public Salvage LS.

What I think is going to happen, is when 1 person finally completes a peice of gear, another rush will happen.

After the newbie rush, it died a little, then LBC died, then it picked up again, basically people are waiting for Pioneers to give them strats , then they can go vulture them and win.

/shrug, my LS does it once a week as an event, and anyone can go 6 man exploring to their leisure which is what I've been doing occasionally since I like to explore the new zones.

we made about 5 runs, all in Bhaflau.
each time we try and test things, work to prove if rumors/theories (read here for ex) were true and we always came to nothing because either it's all damn luck (no Mad Bomber up, well sorry everyone, better luck next time) or maybe CoPlishy complicated (kill flans facing south, without magic while poking the DRG's wyvern).

as far as game-design goes, I always loved hard fights where 18 ppl must act together understanding the basic principles of the NM (like a breath, a spike flai, or Citadel Buster alike moves); this is way i love this game.
aside from Cells distribution strategies, Salvage is just a beat-em up; it looks even borer than Dynamis since there are no risky pulls or massive links.

now how can i keep on asking people to come, using their APs (10k right, worth 500k on my server), dieing occasionally, using medicines all for the sake of some lv15 pieces and *chances* of something new like a Rampart or NM?
sorry but to me, Salvage is bad designed. or, worst, it's designed at CoP's best : it's frustrating, based on random elements and terribly balanced in terms of rewards.

Have you even fought the boss yet? I'd love to see you try a beat em up strat on the Bhaflau boss.

    Hapernack has a novio.

But he's on crack, horribly misinformed or doesn't know the meaning of the words 'completed piece' if he thinks there are 50 pieces of upgraded Salvage gear on Siren. I haven't seen a single piece on anybody.

Try zones besides Bhaflau. I recommend Silver Seas west path on the first floor, that should satisfy your desire for massive links and a NM that will always pop. Or try Arrapago and kill the cactuar NM on the first floor if you want a challenge that's sure to pop.

Everyone does Bhaflau because it's the easiest zone to get armor, weapons, magic, and abilities back. And the lvl15 armor there is just a regular drop, instead of only dropping from NMs like in other zones. But the Bhaflau NMs seem to be luck based so far. So much so that people haven't even seen the Ramparts on the 3rd or 4th floors. There could be a method to the madness, but nothing people have figured out yet.

i'm not naive or clueless, what's the point of this reply?
a run is worth 100 mins, SE can't win me with just a nice boss fight at the end.

i liked the "decide what to farm and go for it" approach, but by far eveything looks random and too much luck based for my own tastes.
not to mention the "Cells not dropping" factor, which is luck based too.

Because you said you liked the whole strategy thing, and then you say salvage is nothing but a zerg fest, so my question : Have you fought the boss yet or are you just commenting on what you've done on the lower floors? Once you get to the boss it's heavily strategy focused. Don't think it's the same as you guys were doing on the non boss levels because it's nothing like it.

It's funny when I see people flaming it , in your example, for things salvage "lacks" , when in fact it doesn't, you probably just haven't been able to get up to it yet.

Boss fight is nice designed; i agree on that. we tried it before the Homing Missile strategies were posted so we lost.
but then again, Salvage is made of 100mins so a single well-designed NM doesnt made up for all the other 70-80mins of bashing fest.

The cells idea is a nice addiction too, but drops related to luck arent because your run can be screwed, or at least slowed down, but cells pool.

There are 0 upgraded pieces on Siren. 0 as in Nil. I wouldn't doubt that a few member of Priceless (very very old JP shell) are 2/3 and have the funds that once third piece drops will have it. They are still waiting on that third drop.

His LS took over 40 people to kill JoL and is unable to clear Bahamut 2. Yeah just think on that for a moment........

Drops related to luck, didn't you just describe 99% of FFXI?

If your first 60 minutes are a "bashing fest", you're doing it wrong. Alliance make-up, path choice, mob choice, and cell distribution strategy are all important keys to success.

Bingo. A little forward thinking makes a salvage run much smoother. My static would have taken LBC down last run if we'd had an extra 5 minutes. Unfortunately one of our tanks couldn't make it so we had to rehash our setup etc, cost us a little time getting there. I'm pretty confident it's going down our next attempt.
