Had cingular for seven years, and never, not once, had a bill come wrong, or have had any problems contacting customer support for any kind of help. One month, no shit, i was strung on cash, called them up to let them know, and they gave me an extension on making the payment. No charge what-so-ever. Also had some fradulent activity (cousin bought a phone under my name using my SSN). Phone was cancelled, i accrued no charges, and now all my account information is locked down about as tight as it can get. If any major changes are made, they call me directly to verify the changes. Honestly, Insight cable and cingular are the 2 best companies i deal with on a monthly basis.

Linksys has owned that name for almost 10 years.

iPhone is a registered name of Ciscos-Linksys brand.

Its not a reserved name tho... its a product that was already released many years go. They would have to sell there product as well as there name for it to be done legally, not to mention taking over complete support for that product for replacements and other kooky numbers.

Will be interesting to see this unfold but I am really concerned about there build quality if they sign a contract we Foxconn again.

This looks too good to wait on to me. As long as i have the extra money on me I'll be snagging one of these. Will have to see what/if any extra service costs there will be for it though. I hate getting something like this and then spending an additional 100/per month just so you can use all the features... like my current phone.

Exactly what I was thinking. Especially when you look at how prone Ipods are to fingerprints and easy scratching.. the screen is gonna be fucked up within a week.

Apple are going to fail, and fail so hard at this, cell phones normaly only have a life of half a year at the most, untill other much improved phones hit the market. This idea would have been great two years ago but in todays market it offers nothing new, there are many phones out there currently that have huge memory and offer everything the Iphone will (cept the touch screen, but afaik these will be hitting the market some point soon)

The Ipod had a huge usebase due to the fact it it was the best out there, no other mp3 player could match the UI or the space or even the battery life, in fairness to apple other companys even today are still playing catch up.

But the phone market is an established market all ready, This is made of fail on apples part, jobs is a dam fool I think ill stick to my Sony Ericsson W710i has everything looks nice, works well too

This won't fail as hard as you think it will. Might not be the best phone out there but people will buy it because it's different and looks sharp. And saying that Jobs is a damn fool is kind of lame, the guy is good at what he does. He's proven it time and time again.
