True but sometimes will be nice if Bush could shut up instead of say stupid things.

I think Sage Sundi should run for president....

In all of his reports he would answer... "I wasn't aware of this", "I will have to talk to the technical team" and "We are working on it".

It would be like FFXI but real life :D

On a serious note - I don't think I can slam Bush... he is doing what he thinks is right. If you take away all the possible truths such as oil and future trading plans... your left with a country trying hard to fight for what good is left in humanity.

The reason I can't "bash" him for this is it's too hard to tell if this actually prevented more terrorist activity (or caused it). The easy answer is to always sit on your ass and do nothing.

I could bash him for being an idiot like everyone else, but christ look at who was before him lol

I still don't think it was my bill to pay in Iraq to begin with. And Bush didn't send us in for "freedom", it was to blow up non-existing Al Qaeda terrorists (plenty there now thanks to the supply of Americans to shoot up, thanks Bush) and secure an illusionary stockpile of WMD's.

The rest has been one bloody half-baked afterthought. The only thing I want paid is the tickets home for the US Armed Forces. Supporting the troops means not sticking their hand in a meat grinder and cheering them on to push it down to the shoulder after they lose a few fingers.

All Bush stated in that speech is the same reason he's made himself the worst president in modern history. A sock puppet for neoconservatives and a throwaway decoy for the Republican Party. Thankfully, enough of that shit splattered to stain the Republican cause as a whole and now we've got 2 more years of Republican President-Democrat Congress deadlocks before he's tossed out of office.

The sad part is, if they'd gone with McCain none of this would have ever happened, IMHO.

Surge. Yahright. Shove that hand down a little further, we're making sausages in Army green!

    Kiss JFK bye-bye.

Gun control is needed. There is a reason the US ranks so damn high in murder/violence and that reason is easy access to guns despite supposed tougher gun laws. Dick and Jane live in the suburbs and Dick has several guns because hey, he is a card carrying member of the NRA and it's his right to do so! He uses them to hunt for sport because hell, killing things is a national pastime and well, he may not need the gun to get food for his table but who cares. Enter into the picture Juan. He lives in the inner city and he wants to show he is a bad ass thug to all his homies. He takes a ride out into the burbs and breaks into a house looking for a piece and finds lovely Dick's horde of weapons. Juan is ecstatic because after all, everyone knows you need a full automatic to hunt/be fly~ Juan takes his new found bling back to the city where Juan proceeds to show what a man he is by being an all around original gangsta and he accidentally shoots you and kills you. Maybe it's me, but I would rather you be alive than let Dick have guns to get his kicks killing innocent wildlife.
You're right. Gun ownership should be mandatory and training as well. If you could be legally drafted (ie not a felon or medically/religiously exempt), you should not only own a gun, but be trained in it's use. Works for the Swiss, who don't exactly have that "Wild West" mentality.

People don't generally need arsenals, and you've just pointed out that a criminal (who can't legally own a firearm) who stole a gun (a felony) and shot you (guess what- another felony) is a bad person. DUH.

You ask ANYONE what they hate the most about elections and they will say those annoying as hell advertisements on TV slinging mud at each other. In an equal setting with X amount to be spent and no special interest groups or committees paying for trash ads, the politicians would have no choice but to set out what they want to change/do & stand for. People can then make an informative choice not based on half truths and misrepresented facts.
And amazingly enough, if candidates couldn't mudsling, the media would so for them. Which is plenty of mud anyway. No need for the politicians to join in.

I know about JFK's family background & connections. If my opinion were to come true, then you're right he wouldn't be able to be president. JFK couldn't be president now though even if I didn't get my way too.

Maybe you are on to something about your solution to Gun control. I just see that what's being done now isn't working for the U.S. Other countries have gun violence too, but on no where near the scale as the U.S. I don't know for sure how gun laws in countries like Japan & Canada for example work, but I don't think they have anywhere near the same problems if at all. I'll have to read more about them.

The media itself is a huge problem in the country too. I'm not saying trample on freedom of speech, but the whole focus of news has shifted and skewed itself to a point that it's almost unwatchable. I guess that's what happens when they stop reporting news for the sake of news and instead report on news to make a profit for their parent companies.

Comedy Central's writers are the most brilliant minds in the world today.

From "AMERICA (the book) Teacher's Edition: A Citizen's Guide to Democracy Inaction"

Initially, the process of conducting campaigns and holding elections was conceived as a means to an end - the peaceful transfer of power. But more than two centuries of refinements have elevated the process to an end in itself. Indeed, it can be said campaigns and elections have beome the most important part of the Democratic Cycle, easily crushin the overrated "governance of the people." Today, running for office takes as much, if not more, time, energy, and resources as holding it. Think that's an inefficient perversion of our political system? Run for office and change it!
    Bolding and underline mine.

Clinton was a great president even though he made the stupid mistake of having an affair. He reduced the deficiet by half and created thousands of jobs inside america. Bush on the other hand has more than quadrupled the remainder of the deficiet left by Clinton. Also Clinton actually gained pro-american support worldwide while Bush has pushed those old allies far away.

Handing our nuclear secrets to China just to make friends with them was not exactly in our best interests.

nope heres a timeline of N. Koreas development of Nuclear arms.

    http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/asiapcf/e ... e.nuclear/

the US governemtn tried to freeze Nuclear development with North Korea in exchange for foreign aid, but every single agreement North Korea Violated and continued its program while still recieving aid. I will admit he did have them build 2 Nuclear power reactors but this was intended for cheap electricity nad was intended to be monitored by American and UN officials.

Bashing Clinton is a stupid and pointless endeavour anyway; the allegations brought against him were hardly impeachment worthy. It wasn't even technically in violation of normal laws, let alone any federal statues which would constitute impeachment.

You can say he handed nuclear secrets to the Chinese, but genuises in the government just recently posted the directions to build an atomic bomb on the internet.

In this past week, an interesting development has occured regarding a portion of the President's speech and comments made by a Pentagon insider. I will try to find a link, but NPR is hardly a misleading source. At any rate, he has alleged that Bush's recent movements of military forces, specifically the deployment of an additional carrier and strike crew to the area, is of no practical use to fighting insurgents. However, Bush in his speech noted that 'Iran and Syria' were 'supplying the insurgents with weapons and aid', and that the military would attempt to circumvent this aid.

I don't know about you, but that constitutes an 'oh shit why are we bashing a former President' type situation.

Edit: Just today the White House issued an address saying there was no planned action, which is predictable and probably true. However, the carrier and strike crew are most definitely warnings to those countries; after all what do insurgents care about strike craft.

The pro Bush talked .. amen.

Seriously stop saying 90% of us are stupid and try to make an intelligent argument ,when actually.. you can't make one yourself. Oh about politics , you don't know more things than us , so keep your "retarded" for yourself.

/edit: archibaldcrane's argument win ^^. Wait a sec bush send more soldiers in Irak? 21000? this guy is crazy.
I've said everything needed to be said across several threads, if you feel like doing the search, go ahead. I am NOT pro-bush, in fact I fucking hate the man and what he has done to our once dear country. What he is doing is admirable in the middle east, but definitely not the right way to go about things. The very argument of Bush lying to the public is the most dumb argument...my god. Bush thinking there were WMDs in Iraq because his advisers told him thus, along with the rest of the world thinking the same, AND saddam acting like he had them = lying? Get your head out of your ass and think for yourself.

I also find the 21,000 troop increase LOL worthy. Just means more boys coming home in bodybags. Troop size doesn't need to be changed, change the rules of engagement for the love of god. Soldiers in the middle of wars should not be policemen, but representatives of the most kickass nation in the world.

and yet another horrible argument. Know your history, then compare it to vietnam. We didn't have any business in vietnam beyond trying to stop them daym commys. I would say that is just a bit different in the middle east
