RNG/NIN - maybe he subbed SAM, not sure.
WAR/NIN
We didn't have any CCB pumps but some did use their 2hr. We said to ourselves: "This is a dry run, if we get past Omega, let's go all out."
And indeed, we beat the record on our dry run. ._.
Granted we are all multi-75 job, merited hotties, I think we got lucky lol.
But I've had the chance to help friends as well as pick-up parties, and it proved to be a pain with some set ups and some people who weren't particularly good players.
What worked best is what people keep telling you: slow and steady. While BRD is hot in that battle, it's not absolutely necessary as you can see from my set up. Just slow and steady, you can get some decent timing in even if you wipe once. CCB's also help a great deal in the lower HP where it starts ssj'ing.
Keep a steady refresh on the WHM and don't throw TP or bodies at it unless it's almost dead, and it victory shall be yours!
Details, details. All you really need to know is that if your white mage isn't quick on the erases, you're dead.Originally Posted by Khamsin

I think I have lost this fight every way possible. 5 mammets pop as blm and -agaed us to death, spamming trans-whatever and taking too much time on the first stage, hitting omega with ES freeze for 0 damage, losing to ultima at 1%, etc. It was an extremely frustrating mission for my SP. We didn't have ideal jobs (blm, smn, pld, mnk). We ended up waiting for our smn to get whm to 60, so I could go blm. Initially nin tanked omega and pld helped support heal. Pld took over tanking when nin went down. They cotanked ultima. For DD we had a mnk and a war/nin.
I just don't see how this could be done without a whm. I'm not saying it can't be, but the amount of healing/status removal necessary can be overwhelming. I had done this fight as whm and blm. Need tons of meds regardless of the job. When a mage is popping hi ethers, pro-ether, vile elixir, vile elixir+1 the tanks and melee need to have pots available to them when the mage can't cast. Communication is necessary. I don't care if I'm casting paralyna on someone and they're saying that they're paralyzed in the log.
My med order was: no meds on mammets other than yag drink, hi ethers early for omega, pro-ether and vile elixir for omega, vile elixir+1 and second pro-ether for ultima. I realize that you get medicated status with pro-ethers, but the fight can take 45 minutes and medicated status lasts 15.
Set up a CCB order. Decide who is using theirs and at what % on Omega or Ultima. Omega was the hardest fight for us. We had 2 people 2 hour on Omega. We wiped on Omega and I nuked the last % down. I think we also wiped on Ultima. We ended up winning with about 1 minute left.
Good luck!
my setup was:
Drk/nin (me)
whm/smn(think it was /smn)
rng/nin
rdm/whm
nin/war
blm/rdm
Took me like 2-3 times to actually beat it one because we ran out of time the others cause of bad strat on mammet. like everyone says i dont see a way to beat it. we had 4CCB 2 for omega and 2 for ultima, once omega is down ultima its easy but still gotta watch him cause if you let him he will rape everyone fast and its sad to start all over again. at that time the rng nerf was on, maybe now it can be better. Btw if you get a blm tell him to have some mp gear enough to do a AM on weakened state since we won because our did burst after we all wiped and we had like 2 min left.
We went 1/3 with my group... granted the 2 losses were due to midfight DCs though.
NIN/WAR
NIN/WAR
DRG/NIN
RDM/WHM
BLM/WHM
WHM/BLM
I'm not sure on the mage subs. I was the DRG. >.>
We had 6 CCBs altogether and used 3 for each. If I recall, no one even died on the last fight.
For the Mammets, one NIN kited while the other NIN and I duoed them one by one. For the rest the NINs backed each other up and the mages were on point without drawing too much hate.
We cleared in 23:45. I'd love to tell you the perfect strat to go in and kick ass and take names, but honestly... I just focused on killing shit and used a CCB when my time came up.
Merovingian your signature kicks ass. ;3
I had to say it.
And for everyone that says "it cant be done without WHM" due to status ailments. NIN struggles more than PLD because of that. Also ranged attacks wont be affected by shock spikes from Omega. Check his setup, he has both. It definitely can be done, and it's not as hard as people make it sound either, if your party is on the balls for it (and everyone brings meds, I cant stress this enough).
We won on attempt 2.
Thanks all for the advice. The only setup change was to have the war come as pld and duo tank. Hate got a little hairy on the tail end of Omega and Ultima, but we won with no complete wipes (although everybody died at some point).
Every time I've done this and won, having 2 tanks was the reason. 1 tank just gets its ass kicked way too much with debuffs and after hate reset, it's nice to have someone else to try and pull hate back.
2 tanks (one being war or nin for DD purposes) + 2 blm + whm + brd, I think, was our setup. Double Flare at 20% took him to like 10, and then we just zerged him dead. That was our strategy for every CoP NM that went crazy at 20% and it worked beautifully.
