Aegis probably has an automatic capped rate on easy prey or maybe even even match mobs, but as the mobs level increases, so does the amount of shield skill required to cap on it.

On EXP mobs and a size 3 shield, 300 shield skill will hit the cap. For Aegis it's probably a bit less, but you'd still need at least 300 shield skill with an Aegis to reach your proc cap on stuff like Fafnir, and even higher on wyrms.

i float around 295-306, i always thought 295 capped with level 5 shields and i've never noticed much different with 295 vs. 306 on Fafnir / Cerberus / etc....granted i have no Aegis, but i think block rate would be alot easier to tell if you experimented with 0 Shield gear vs. 300ish Shield gear on Fafnir.
