Is that really optimal? I say let the damage dealers worry about dmg, and let the tank worry about tanking, especially a PLD. Eating sushi to enhance your dmg output as a tank is pretty foolish, no?

In my personal opinion: No, it's not optimal at all. PLD is my first job. Often when upgrading merits or gearing up I'm faced with the temptation of choosing between what I think would be fun (attack etc.) or optimal and practical (enmity+, shield etc.). I've always chosen the latter. I understand that it may be cool to wear a Joytoy and double attack constantly when hasted, but I also understand that I'm there to get hate and keep it. There are others who are there to deal damage. I understand all of this.

I was merely making the point (although I think it's lost on this particular cross-section of players) that he chose in this instance what would be fun over what is practical. We play to have fun and I'm sure that's what he was doing (selfishly I might add), and I understand that you can argue that him doing that jeopardizes the fight and ultimately detracts from the fun of the others who are blowing MP unnecessarily to cure bomb him or raise him. I get this.

Personally I don't find it fun to lose hate / take a crapload of damage / die when tanking. But that's just me.

Nah...

I think my favorite Soup moment in recent memory was him fighting Tiamat as PLD/NIN, eating Squid Sushi to hit more with Excalibur (read : feed Tiamat TP), and he also covered his NIN/DRK cotank in the air... without equipping his Valor Body.

While I can't speak for LP specifically or shells on other servers, the majority of 'endgame' shells on our server are run by some real winners.

TG - Ryko, while fairly intelligent, is a self-admitted asshole. And have you ever met Bongo? >_> I know their leadership structure has changed to some extent with the WoW exodus and what-not, but judging by their turnover rate as of late, I can't imagine it's changed much.

ED - Chiz, yea. Shandi is better, but still a hardass at times.

TF - Ron, Attack/Darth, Dracu - lol. I don't know much about them since Dan took over and started Cognatus. Been out of endgame too long. ;\

Even up and coming Impulse - Rock is not an ideal leader by any means. What's a temper? lol I'm convinced it's the hard work of a couple really good sacks that keeps this shell going.

As much as I'll probably get strung up for this here, I actually agree with chiz. It seems like most people are willing to put up with a lot of BS as long as shit gets done, people are getting drops, and they're distributed relatively fairly. Is it the ideal situation? Of course not. But most people are willing to settle for less than ideal to get the things they want.

Maybe LP is the utopia of LS's. I really don't know many of the people in it or that much about your leadership, so I can't really comment. If that's the case tho, more power too you. I'm glad you found some place you are happy. I don't think most are that lucky tho.

Edit for clarity: I'm saying that I don't think they ideal ls does or ever will exist in an online game like this. Some amount of assholeness is required in leadership to motivate and I was trying to show that similarity between the successful endgame shells on our server. There will always be drama and there will always be people who are unhappy with certain things.

As for gear, I honestly don't know what you have or what you're missing other than your visible gear from a glance; unlike 90% of your shell I don't make it a point to check, cross-check and triple-check people everytime I come across them. Its obvious though that you want what we have or want more of whether its consciously or subconsciously. Otherwise we wouldn't camp the same mobs, now would we?

Quotes? Its called the chat log. Whether its a missed MB or a massively resisted MB, your nukes are weak. Might want to worry about buffing up that +Elemental Skill before you worry about MAB/AM2/+Potency, or maybe find a BRD that can land Threnody idk. I don't pay much attention to the logistics of a LP kill (or wipe), its just one big blur of nub.

I was saying that people like you are neccissary (as is evidenced by my post about successful endgame shells on our server all having those types of people at the helm). At the time when I left, yea, I did have a problem with you, just like I had a problem with Ryko (amoungst others) when I left TG. That was hardly the main reason I left tho. I was much more idealistic about the way I thought things ought to be back then. My how this game can jade a person.

That was what, a year ago now? I've been 'leading' my social shell on some small endeavors and that has taught me a lot. Would I have done things differently if I had known then what I know now? Definitely. Thus is life. People grow and change on a regular basis.

While I will defend you on the fact that it takes a certain type of person to be a leader, I won't defend the fact that you feel the need to put down everyone you think is disagreeing with you. Believe it or not, it usually actually makes your arguement look more valid if you don't include the petty BS when trying to make a point.

Heh, yep, and I'll maintain to this day that Aers either directly used bots or had access to them. Different servers are like fish bowls, but that doesn't mean you can't introduce another species by simply dropping in a fish from a different fish bowl. I know members of TG used 3rd party apps, a few of them were banned/suspended for using them. I also know that Ryko and others were friends with botting trash on servers plagued by botting (sup Stan, Weltall and co.) So ya, you get someone showing up to Aery daily from a server known for rampant botting and winning pulls for another LS, what the fuck are you gonna think? Oh, aers had toolz, no doubt... but what makes what I posted so fucking funny is that at the time you said that, our shell on Remora had just killed our first couple Genbus :/ And of course, people "know" that members of your shell have used 3rd party apps as well. After he died he actually switched to Crimson Legs and Feet, and AF2 hands, and tanked in a Numinous shield (NQ) for the phat 10 resist it offers.

Oh and he still kept the Excalibur, Koenig Head, and Koenig Body on.

No he used a +1 Numinous and he was using elemental resist gear from the time of the first pop until we downed the second JoL. Oh, it was AF2 Body, not Koenig body also. Drax was tanking in more Koenig then Soup, simply because he doesn't have the same gear options available.

And everyone that says shit about somebody using Excal for tanking.. well, if you spent all that time to get it, wouldn't you wanna have fun with it too? You can talk shit all you want about the way somebody gears themselves but, all Soup does is try to make use of the Excal or try out different things. Its better then doing the same thing over and over. Even if people say its not the best way to gear yourself, at least somebody tries it for themselves to test first hand. Its better then wearing a brutal earring while staff tanking Fafnir on ninja or dusk gloves on pld while kiting a mob (Sully from Machina has done both these things recently as well as the recent BTD CFH on Fafnir.)

I joined some silly Dynamis LS named Manaburn or something like that with the hopes that Xarcabard would be kind and hook this PLD up...but no....not a single PLD drop in 10+ weeks (except Valor cape). But I was being honest when I didn't lot on that piece...I hadn't been to 2 of the last 3 Dynamis runs on that particular day.

So cute Chiz. I can have an elemental skill rating of 349 but since you do not need that to do full damage on fafnir anyway, its a dumb point. In fact, this shows once again how clueless you are about how the game works if you think more elemental skill automatically means less resists. My nukes weak? My nukes hit too hard in fact. The last fafnir we got, I had two 1400+ Thunder IVs MBs on windsday. Combined with my uber BLM gear, I especially have to watch my damage output at every HNM. I have had very few resist unlike you speak of (keep making up stuff, its so funny watching your 'evidence') and if I do get resists, its because of the stupid elemental resist buildup for HNms or if the wings are usually up. Honestly, I don't know why I, or anyone really, bother to reply to you. You hear what you want to hear and refuse to accept you are wrong.
