I dunno, when Lance learned how shitty excalibur was, he actually sucked up the 2k currency loss and switched to aegis. That was a smart move.

The fact that Soup followed through with his shitty lolrelic is another example why he's "Lance" of Asura: so much potential, yet living up to none of it because of a stunning lack of brains.

Precisely the point. Tanking JoL with koenig body and excalibur is practically the definition of an inappropriate time.

Not that it really mattered in the end. I wasn't around for the fights since I was afk this weekend, but both JoL were killed in around 1 hour - if that is indeed correct, I say we did a fantastic job executing our strategy on our first two attempts.

From what I hear, you guys did a pretty poor job of executing the same strategy that your members watched us use a week earlier with half as many people.

Yea when you bring 43 people including 7 white mages you could probably tank with black mages wearing starter gear, but that isn't really a good strategy. And neither is tanking with a weapon that does exactly nothing for you when you aren't meleeing.

I mean, only 2% dmg per drk souleater is pretty weak, we were squeezing 5% or more each. Our PLDs got hate back pretty fast after the souleater, too, meaning several times our DRKs were able to shed hate without dying after dealing upwards of 5000 dmg in 30 seconds.

Maybe if your main vanity tank used an enmity sword/shield and valor instead of exclolibur/lolresist and koenig body, he'd hold hate off the drks another few seconds for that extra 500-1000 dmg? Just a thought :wink:

I forgot, you and LW (and the rest of the decision makers in SML) are so brilliant for thinking to use drk's on JoL. I sure hope folks from other servers read this post, so that they know you guys thought of using darks with kraken clubs on JoL first. Get over yourself. You guys read about it online, we read about it online - both here, and on other forums.

As to the #'s comment, we are what we are. We're not going to tell people to not come online to enjoy the fight, certainly not folks that have left the game and came back just for this fight. Your #'s are what they are as well, let's not make it a point of contention.

As to the drk's and the % dmg they got off per souleater, it is what it is. All of our darks are noobs when it comes to using KC's, this was their first try at it - rotating off loaner KC's from pettra and dngnhack. They had some gear for it, but probably not an optimal "Rukenshin" type build.

And for the record, I didn't bad mouth your linkshell over the kill at all in my post above, thanks for taking the high road there.

I've been told that your original JoL strat didn't include drk+kraken, and that changed after you guys observed our fight. I never claimed to have invented it--actually I saw Tribe doing it ages and ages ago and wanted to emulate it--but your version of it, with your DRKs dying to undispelled flourescence 10 seconds into their souleater, was hardly impressive.

Deep down there's no sour grapes, I'm just telling you what your tanks were doing wrong. Open your eyes and read my criticisms as opportunities to improve. Why get all hyper-defensive? You should be thanking me for pointing these things out.

But really, in what bizarro world do you have to live to think excalibur is a good JoL tank weapon. That's exactly the criteria that makes Soup a perfect fit for Asura's "lance": supreme access to gear. A large following of people that range from total retard to extremely competent. And, most importantly, a complete lack of good sense when it comes to doing his job properly.

Aurik, my entire point is that IT DIDN'T MATTER on JoL that soup was using his toy. We still killed it fast, fun time was had by members, people weren't angered over any xp loss, etc. If we had died and lost the pop set specifically because of Soup's equipement decisions I might be on here singing a different tune, but thats not the case.

Did we kill it as optimally as possible? No. Does it really matter to our linkshell? Not really, sure we're going to tweak things and try to improve - but we hardly feel like failures for chalking up 2/2 wins.
