I didn't like how they did it in FFX, because it was way too frequent (hi2u INSIDE SIN, UGH!).

But yeah I agreed with those people, but after seeing how FF12 went down, I believe going back to the old system (preferably FF8/9 Setup) would be the best for the series.

Then again, they'll probably keep the active time system like with 12, and just mix it up a bit with new stuff.

I think it would be extremely smart if they went back to the roots, it would skyrocket FF and bring some new-old life into the series.
I dunno, most of my problems when I go back to play older FF's and such is that spam of 3-5s before a fight with the fade in/out or whatever the game does. I thought the Gambit system was great, though they should come up with a way to make it a bit more difficult. They should make a Hard mode IMO, it isn't an FF thing by tradition but I think a lot of the FF fans are older now and by catering to us they'll make it too hard for younger kids. As well, it makes a bit more sense in a realistic way to do fights like FF12, imo.
That's the biggest problem I had with 12, and which is why I think they should go back to random encounters. With 12, everything was so easy because it was all automated, and half the time you didn't feel like you were even playing -- you just dressed them up in their gear and ran around, and they did the rest. Turn-based random encounters actually takes strategy and knowing how/when to do certain things, which is why I think it would succeed more than random FF12-like roaming.

lol, that's what I mean, and I remember that annoying dungeon. Especially when you are a person that HAS to get all of the treasure in a dungeon....

When you make a long ass dungeon, do not make the random battles so frequent. ~_~

I suppose it won't matter though, since they'll probably keep the current system going.

But yeah, if it is just this 1 dungeon that's perfectly fine, it's when they do it with half the dungeons in the game (FF9...), that's when it becomes an annoying problem.

You could use one of those, you post like an 8yr old that forgot to take his ridillin today and in the meantime is munching on ground coffee beans right out of the tin.

Im expecting good story in this game, but im a mediocre one in versus, it looks more like kingdom hearts with more FF feel to it, and so the versus one will probably have better gameplay.

Really the automated-ness makes it easy? Last I checked I could run around in most other FF's and just spam O or X (whichever the OK button was) and win fights. They just need to make it so you'll need to grind for a bit for the next place you're going to be "cake" to get through, or you'll have to pay a bit more attention for each mob if you don't. Make mobs advance in level quicker, as well as more links because FF12 you could almost always fight 1 at a time early on.

I meant more along the lines of bosses... I found the FF12 bosses to be just as easy as the regular enemies, only you had to cast some spells on yourself to get the job done. (And i'm talking about storyline bosses, not the annoying ultra-annoying hunt bosses that are like lv100.)

They could always just make the monsters level up along with you, so they always match you, and probably a bit more AI to.

Edit: Id settle if they would apply the lv matching thing to bosses. Now that i think about it, better they not make normal monsters hard, thats just frustrating.

I haven't played it in a while, but didn't the monsters level up with you in FFVIII? I remember those ruby dragons or w/e kicking my ass at level 99. That gave it some challenge instead of just spamming O/X to win every random battle.

If not, and I'm completely wrong, ignore this post. >_>

That's probably why SE looks so bad, they keep hiring new people to the series, and these people have no idea WTF they're doing... and Nomura by himself can't make a game great (or can he?.. )
The lack of one mans name is why Square has recently turned into the state it is today. . .

    Hironobu Sakaguchi 坂口 博信

If only Spirits Within's story wasn't written by Al Reinert & Jeff Vintar. If only Sakaguchi-san himself didn't insist on trying to direct & salvage the thing... Then he wouldn't have had to of stepped down from Square as the fall guy for the failed project.

Oh well, at least the man who created the Final Fantasy series, and co-created Square went on to form Mistwalker Stuidos. Their games for the Xbox360 are amazing. Blue Dragon's launch sold 100,000 systems in Japan. Impressive considering that the install base of the 360 in Japan is only just over 200,000 since it's launch.. Lost Odyssey looks to be even more amazing.

Blue Dragon's launch outside of Japan should bring the title more acclaim than in the land of the rising sun. It's a really nice RPG, and the first Xbox360 game to be on multiple discs, 3 DVDs to be exact.

"Blue Dragon's designers include two of the creators of Chrono Trigger, the extremely successful RPG for the Super Nintendo. The game features art from Akira Toriyama, the creator of Dragon Ball and visual designer and illustrator of one of Japan's most popular video game series, Dragon Quest. Blue Dragon's soundtrack is produced by Nobuo Uematsu, a composer responsible for much of the music in the popular Final Fantasy game series."

Thanks a lot for clearing it up.

But wow, 3 CDs, I haven't heard that one yet... if it really is going to be multi-CD, it should be an extremely successful title, seeing who is being that project.

Wow, I was checking around for info and stuff on this game, and it seems to be getting pretty good reviews in japan.

The only reason I never really cared for xbox was the same reason Japan didn't. This looks like it could change my opinion. I'm definitely interested in this game now.

I never trust release dates from gamestop, who knows.

edit: Well, nvm, on the wiki it has that date too, it could be right, I guess.

Well here is Lost Odyssey too, same developers... here's to hoping 360 finally dishes out some good RPGs.

No, that is a guess on their part for the release date. There has been no official US date announced yet. The game came out in Japan on December 7th.

Yes, it is 3 DVDs. All three discs are the game. We have the import and it's extremely fun.
