What is the gameplay like? is it random encounters or free-roaming like FF12?

I don't think Ashe and "Lightning" look that similar, tbh. They both have a white top, ok? Different hair, different facial expression. And from the sounds of it they'll be a bit different personality-wise.

It's really nice. You can run around and actually see the monsters on the field and avoid them if you want or suprise them and attack them. Also, say you see three monsters walking around, there is a thing where you create a dome grid over the map and you can target all the monsters that are around you or only a couple of them, and lump them all into one long fight if you want. Also, if you see two types of monsters on the field that are enemies of each other, you can do the same dome thing, and they will fight each other making it easy for you. lol There are no random encounters. The Gameplay is turn based sort of but there is a gauge where you can time attacks too. It helps give a boost to the fun factor

I think it could work very well if FF13 works like this (monsters on the map, you can decide whether you want to engage or not.)

It's kind of Valkyrie Profile in this sense, only it looks like BD has more of an FF feel to it. (teams on each side of the screen.)

Guitar Hero 2 is coming out for the 360 soon too... 360 is getting some very nice titles this year... PS3 needs good titles to come out and fast, or else they're going to sink very very low.

I like it. It looks kinda cartoonish, but looks like it could be fun.

Good videos up on IGN as well... and by the way, Radiata Stories for the PS2 looked (cartoonish) as well, but it was amazing IMO.

And the surroundings seem to be very detailed and hi-def, it's just the characters/enemies that look like that.

As far as these new screenshots, thanks for posting. However, I think these characters look too much like FF8... (am I the only one who thinks that guy in the first screenshot looks like Seifer with a beanie? ..)

The only resemblance I see is the coat. Nothing else.


I think people are doing exactly what most people do in RL, and it's judging by appearance. Yes, Lightning (ライトニングlol), has similar clothes to Ashe but that's it, the shirt looks somewhat the same and they both wear really short pants, does that mean she will be the same Character? How many people look stereotypical yet they are different? I don't know, I think you all should give it a chance.

You don't have to buy a PS3 to try the game out when it does come out. You can always borrow from a friend and judge for yourselves if it's worth getting or not.

If you ask me, Shiva looks pretty freaking amazing in that first picture, and the fact that it's 2 is even more amazing. Also, I believe they mistranslated the text Kuya posted, because the kanji in the first picture (where it says: 二人の氷の女王が。。。) is clearly Ice and -NOT- water like IGN said.

I'm liking FF12 a lot. And while I do agree the story is... short. I think it was a success.

As far as the story is concerned, some people seem to think it's the same but altered a bit. I disagree, I think the idea of Cocoon and Pulse is really good.

I liked all FF that I've played. Maybe I've liked FF6 a little more than any other, but I liked them all on the same level pretty much. And I believe it's safe to say that I'll be blown away by 13. The only downpart of 12 I didn't like is that fights were so fast you couldn't really use the array of magic and abilities and Espers you could in other games. I hope they do something about that, though it doesn't necessarily mean they should go back to random encounters (which I don't mind), at least fights could be longer but the mobs should give more exp. Maybe like Chrono Cross where you saw the monsters in the area but decided to fight or not.

However, I do agree on the fact that in 10 and in 12, the main characters were so girly... My favorite character is Balthier on 12. Seriously.

But as usual, there's no say until you've actually played it, so I'll take my risks and get it when it comes out. Right now, I'll enjoy the hell out of Zelda.

No one is judging the PS3's capabilities, because we all know the graphics it is capable of producing (GT HD, anyone?)

The problem is, FF keep repeating itself, to the point where it's beginning to look BAD. (not as bad as the Zelda series keeps repeating itself, but it's getting there...)

SE needs a fresh look, fresh perspective, fresh storyline and FRESH gd characters. Without it, the series will start to fail no doubt.

While I do agree that FF12 was fun to play at first, when you needed to level up all your characters to 100 just so you can beat some stupid hunt (unless you wanted to fight it for a week...and still lose...), it was just becoming frustrating. So then you use the auto-leveling guide, and overnight your characters are leveled... but what's the fun in that?

I don't know, I haven't really enjoyed an FF game since FF9 (which was original and stayed true to the FF series in its own right.) FFX was good, but wasn't as good as people were expecting IMO (for a next-gen game of its time.)

Oh and Xavier, I find it to look a lot more Xenosaga than FF... >.>

Don't get me wrong, I think FF12 did deliver... but about 3/4 way through the game it was just repetitive and boring. (although at that point, the storyline did start picking up so I guess it wasn't too bad.)

Exactly, it was a good RPG in its own right... but calling it an FF was a joke really. The battle system and heavy storyline is what made the FF series succeed and become THE Final Fantasy... I just don't think 12 did it enough justice.

The key question here is whether Lightning has Ashe's ghettofab booty. That was the first thing I noticed when Ashe joined the party. Quite the load of badonkadonk.

I thought it was said somewhere that she's not even the main character... but more of a Yuna/Ashe main character kind of thing.

Shes basicaly a female version of Cloud, barring the possibly diferent personality. And what other main characters had amnesia? Thought it was just goldy.
