As much as i'd like to see the ps3 succeed ( I write cell processor code for a living ) the hardware is too expensive to sell a ton of units.
Its not really in the best interests of any developer other than 1st party to put in the engineering effort to tapping the ps3's power, most 3rd party developers want to do cross platform titles to maximize units sold and minimize console specific engineering time.
xbox360 is normally chosen as the lead development platform internally for most studios because their development environment is superior.

I really want to play MGS but all i've been thinking about lately is Lost Planet for xbox360 which comes out tommorrow

Too bad they're not releasing a "slim" version of PS3 that only plays games, I don't wanna pay for blu ray BS, just wanna play my games

If it's just for games, you could buy the 20gig version for 499... (even though even that is expensive, but 20gigs is a lot). I've survived with it on the 360 so far, and I've never had space issues..

20gigs costs 8$, it costs $.40 for the HD industry per gig.

And even if FF or MGS came out on the release date it wouldnt matter because there are no units to buy because sony cant make enough.

Even then, no one in their right mind will put down $700 for one game.

since the standard media for ps3 games is on blu-ray format, it is highly unlikely there'll ever be a ps3 without blu-ray

so the only possible way for the ps3 get cheaper is if blu-ray wins the format war which creates much more manufacturing and developing environment of the format and makes it cheaper, which so far is still a 50/50 chance

by the way, even though you might think that blu-ray thing as some "crap" it's actually proven to be highly effective in a business stand point: just look like the rising percentage of movies releasing on dvds that also has blu-ray format because of the ps3... without the ps3 blu-ray could have already lost a couple months ago, and now nobody can say for sure; why do you think the 360 is gonna have an attachable hd-dvd drive? :D

heh, actually if blu-ray does win the format war, you are gonna see 10 times more "sony" logo in the electronic store you shop at... it's a huge gamble sony has taken on: either they go out of the gaming business because of the ps3 (which is the most profitable part of the corporation in the ps2 era) or dominate the media format and gain control all across the electronics field

so in agreeing with you, as a gamer i don't like sony because of the blu-ray attached ps3 either--not because i don't like blu-ray, but rather because i disapprove sony treating us like sheeps to win the format war--but as a business owner i absolutely admire sony for their guts in taking on the risk, i mean if they win, they basically win it all

Not being as indemand as say nintendo doesn't mean that they aren't selling and that noone is buying them. Supply is greater than demand right now, opposite of wii.
