Not being as indemand as say nintendo doesn't mean that they aren't selling and that noone is buying them. Supply is greater than demand right now, opposite of wii.

Wait, so you are saying... the current supply of Playstation 3s in stock is greater than the demand (right now) and that doesn't mean people aren't buying them? Actually people aren't buying them because there is no demand due to high cost, no games, launch issues, after Christmas sales slump, take your pick.

No matter how people loyal to Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo spin it, the sales of the PS3 have totally not been what Sony expected. They thought people would be snatching up every system they could make. They didn't expect people to actually question them, or people who bought them on ebay trying to make a profit to return them to stores, or people who have bought them to advise their friends to not do the same and instead wait.

Playstation 3 may be a good system choice in a year or two from now. But as it stands now, it's a $600 Blu-Ray movie player with problematic PS2 backwards compatibility and one good game. Sony chose to put their future in the hands of Blu-Ray and PS3 thinking it would be a repeat of PS2 and they could do no wrong & be number one this generation too.

They were slapped in the face though by both the Japanese and American public and hopefully now know for the time being, this is not the case and changes need to be made.

Sure, Sony held their end of the bargain and shipped the number they promised to ship, but the supply isn't that great... it just looks like it because no one wants to buy an overpriced console that doesn't have any games, therefore they just sit around collecting dust.

The EB in my area now has 20 PS3s, and no one is buying them.

There is more PS3's than people are buying, the supply is higher than the demand. Not very hard to understand. People are buying them, just not that many, it doesn't mean they aren't selling at all. I know exactly why they aren't selling, I wasn't spinning anything at all. They are overpriced, and there isn't any good games out for it. Some people somewhere are still buying them though, over a million have sold. 1 Million sure is alot more than 0. Thanks for agreeing again:

The funny thing is that everyone says the PS3 is so bad but yet it sold more then the PS2 did when it was first launched. But hell I think the PS3 launch games were way better then the PS2's and it doesn't have one good game. Any game that scores an 8 or higher is a good game. Its just people need a game to justify the price. And I wouldn't say there is "No" demand, because they do sell just slow :D

But hell I think the PS3 launch games were way better then the PS2's and it doesn't have one good game. Any game that scores an 8 or higher is a good game. The PS3 is failing because it has competition this time... when the PS2 was released Sony was at the top of the mountain, alone.

Sony did make enough. They made enough for those who were early adopters. They also made enough for everyone else but it's there where Sony has fallen short, those numbers are still not what Sony promised them to be. Even in Japan Sony failed to ship their goal and Wii outsold it...

Going from every source i've seen, they were very far off the 4million mark by january 1st. Even the gamestop manager's were told they were getting alot more than I did. It's the 11th and they still aren't at 4million.

If the PS2 was at the top of the mountain, it should sold more right? Hell I don't remember the PS2 have these horrible manufacturing problems like the PS3 had. It didn't have problems till 6 months later when the wonderful Disk read errors started.

I guess i'm being mistaken for a fanboy that's comparing the wii sales to ps3 sales, which i'm not.

I don't care who sells more, or less, or whatever. Someone posted that there is noone buying them, there is no demand. All I did was say people must be buying some, because over $600,000,000 worth of them have sold, not including auction prices.

Except this site has been around for years and has actual sales numbers.

That's one of the only site's i've seen with numbers I trust, there are hundreds with inaccurate numbers. The year end passed now so the numbers are all updated =/

Sorry Boyiee, was going back and fourth cooking dinner, I misread what you were saying. I'm sorry for that. Also, as for sale figures, I think that one group, I forget the name at the moment is supposed to release their data some time like the 17th maybe I think it was. I will check and see what it was I read. I remember sites stated they said so and so was sold, but then the group said those figures were not official and they would have them in the middle of the month. Let me find it..

Edit I found this same article on numerous sites, followed a couple days later by another stating the numbers were not to be seen as final and that NPD would release their final numbers sometime after Jan 11th.

Stock shortages were an even bigger problem for Sony. Around 750,000 PlayStation 3 units were sold during the same period.

What would be really great is not just a site giving gross sales-to-date, but instead having specific sales-by-dates. Well as specific as can be I guess... It would be great to see who sold the most By the 25th, 1st, 10th, etc.

Funny, my friend at gamestop told me his ps3's are outselling his wii's because he is getting more of the ps3's and, not that they are flying off the shelves but that people have access to more lol so more are selling.

nope, do your research man, dreamcast had almost 4 times as much sales as ps2 did the first 8 months... which now i think about it kinda resembles the current situation between ps3 and wii

the reason why there's so much hating towards sony right now is because of how much a dynasty ps2 has been and people expect ps3 to be the top dog from the get go, which obviously isn't the case for any game console in the history of game consoles no matter who you are
