Yeah, no shit. When I go surfing I get WORKED. I come home from the beach every time feeling really really sore. It works muscles that I never even knew I had. :DOriginally Posted by Pamelita

I run, do sit-ups, and push-ups everyday. No fast food, no pop, no candy, nothing sugary for that matter. Cept dark chocolate because thats my favorite thing in the whole fucking world. Just anything cardio you like doing really.
there are so many great diets and great workout routines/cardio/hobby stuff to lose weight and burn calories..
but my ass is doin atkins. it works and if you get off it properly you can keep it off. problem is people get off atkins and get into such a horrible shitty eating routine and gain their weight back. 'yay im off it now i can eat all the garbage ive been avoiding for months' its not like your body forgets how to burn calories when youre off atkins.
I do yoga, light treadmill work, and sit ups occasionally. No fast food, no soda, no eating late. my largest meal is usually lunch, and I exersize around 4pm.
I like the flexibility+endurance I get from my routine, but I can't lift anything heavier than my 3yr old son
Just getting some fiber in your diet (omg salad) does wonders if you are feeling like a fatty. At the risk of being gross here, most people dont poop often enough which causes all kinds of bad things to happen and makes you fat.
I could so do that too.Originally Posted by Axil

Aren't there things to make your metabolism speed up? Wouldn't that make you lose weight in a way o.O;
Start jogging. It is most definitely the easiest and effective method of weight loss. Start out small, though. Run for like 10mins a day at an easy pace. The next week, you might want to try 15 (or 10 again but at a faster speed) and continue this until you're satisfied.
Certain drugs, but those are kinda illegal. >.>Originally Posted by Vannis
My metabolism is insanely fast as it is, no need to worry about it as long as I don't eat junk food 24/7.
Exercise 4tw.
Nah I heard theres like herbs and shit you can get from health food stores. I have a really high metabolism, all I do is sleep, eat and play FFXI over the holidays and haven't gained a pound and I'm still 110. lolOriginally Posted by Scythiroth
If you don't change eating habits and exercise though, I doubt those would make you lose weight much. I guess they could, but I would think more people would use that kind of thing if they did help a lot.Originally Posted by Vannis
I'm the same way, but I'm pretty tall. I think I weigh around 150, but I'm 6'5" lol.
Speeding up your metabolism rate will help you lose weight. And I read somewhere that having a cup of green tea every day helps speed your metabolism up.Originally Posted by Vannis
Do you exercise now? Most people can lose weight without changing their diet if they just increase the calories burned. But diet is still just as important if not more.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
If you feel you are eating decently already then how about changing your big meal of the day to lunch or breakfast instead of dinner? This would give your body more time to burn it off.
Not starving yourself helps keep your metabolism up. Eating more frequent, smaller meals can, but as I think someone mentioned, don't skip breakfast and stuff. Just make it healthier.
Something I found to work for me that required basically no effort was to swap to diet soda. Still get the caffiene and stuff, just not the 120-150 calories a can, carbs, etc. Really, if you're drinking 3-4 cans a day playing FFXI or something, it's like eating an extra meal at McDonalds.
Universities, and most recreation centers have decent indoor pools to swim laps in.Originally Posted by Exoduso

Do you want to lose pounds or lose fat? The two can be very different. Lose size or gain muscle?

Treadmill, a bench, and a few dumbells will go a long way if you're dedicated.
I havent exercised/weight lifted/ran/etc in 2 years. Partly because I was sick of it, and + new job and less time.Originally Posted by dietvanillapepsi

All the males in my family/extended have a lot of mass, even though they work in physical jobs and such, we were all football players too. I know its in my genes but the difference btwn me and them is, theyre muscle rather than fat. Ive heard people always say if youre active in earlly life, and then stop, you gain weight fast, and thats where I am >.x
i dont know how true it is but that feels 110% correct. i play soccer since b4 i can remember up until senior year. for about 8-10 of those years i played 5 seasons(fall say, fall select, winter indoor, spring select, summer select). i also played the same year w/ baseball, 4 years of basketball, 4 years of wrestling, and about 10 years of hockey(only 1 on a team). once i graduated i went from that down to zero. i worked a physical job but my meta went for through the fucking roof to nothing. was always a big person(especially for a soccer player) but once it ended, i was done for.Originally Posted by SephirothYuyX
ive also heard that green tea helps the meta and curbs hungry. same w/ hoodia supplements.
First off, you can't really change your genetics. Duh. One thing you can change though are your habits. Try keeping a log of everything you are eating and what times of day, and be honest. If it's a small bowl of cereal, write small bowl, but if it big enough to hold a canteloupe it's probably a large bowl.
The easiest way to lose weight and keep it off is through lifestyle change. Try to cut out most of the sugars and sweets and switch to more leafy greens and vegetables. If you used to eat a candy bar as a snack, try switching to fruit like grapes, apples, oranges, tangerines, tangelos, grapefruits, etc. The cool thing about that is after a while, you don't even miss the sugars and fresh, natural food actually tastes better. When you are used to eating healthy, if you ever have something really sweet like one of those birthday sheet cakes from a grocery store, it's so sugary it's almost sickening. The other easy thing to do is watch your portion sizes. A "serving" of meat is about 3 oz., or the size of a deck of playing cards.
It's hard to change your diet drastically, so some people ease into it. Other people go for the drastic change, such as a fast like the lemonade diet (aka "master cleanse," google Stanley Burroughs if you're interested in it).
The most important thing though really is your diet. You can run until you are blue in the face and your toenails are falling off but if your diet sucks, it won't matter. Changing your diet a lot will help you more than just starting to exercise more often.
