Seriously, chapter was lame. Naruto was HEAVY. this.... ugh
Seriously, chapter was lame. Naruto was HEAVY. this.... ugh
Today's going to be slow at work so I think I'll make a 'last time I saw my favorite Bleach character was...' list. It's going to be bad.
Like I said, could have been worse. We could have gotten James' backstory.
Wait a sec.. He said James had died and returned, but made no mention of the Super Star..
But... if all Quincy are marked with part of his soul, and the soul returns to Bach when they die, how come Quincy is passed om to kids? That means that Juha's part soul must be passed on to the kids too, right? So he would be lying when he said that it returns to him when they die?
Having kids = copying parts of you and your spouse's soul. Like my kids get copies of my genetic knowledge, but they don't get MY body. So the part that was inherently given to you by Bach returns (along with your power) when you die, but wouldn't affect your kids. At least that's how I understand it.
As for the chapter, I didn't mind it. Pretty much notes that Bach is just going to get stronger as we beat the baseline baddies, so it's never really a victory to us, so him/Ichigo have to be stronger than all the other characters combined.
It also kind of lends explanation into why he was wanting to take Ichigo into his dominion. He could have healed Ichigo with his soul, branded him, and then absorbed his power when he died.
Trying to give a hall pass for when Ishida powers up to rival the upgraded Ichigo in an all out epic rap battle?
All right here we go

Kenpachi - Last seen mid February 2013 (Chapter 527)
Back when I was convinced Bleach was gonna be swordfight after swordfight after swordfight Kenpachi's personality, sense of humor and fighting style are reason #1 I stuck with it. "Fuck yeah! Here's a crazy berserker swordfighter who gives zero fucks about anything but fighting with swords! He doesn't have stupid surprise superpowers, doesn't need to fart rainbows out his ass or transform into a duck, he's just fucking strong and cuts shit in half." Da bess
PUT ME IN COACH I'M READY I'VE BEEN READY FOR ELEVEN FUCKIN MONTHS.
Kon - Last seen late December 2012 (Chapter 522)
The OG comic relief and I never ever got tired of him. Haters gonna hate.
Nelliel - Last seen late April 2012 (Chapter 490)
Can't post the image I wanna because I'm at work and I can't go that far down the google rabbit hole, but yeah
Spoiler: show
I know Kubo doesn't reuse characters from old arcs (or when he does it's a stupid cameo) but fo reals I miss my girl Nel. Seeing her when Ichigo returned to Hueco Mundo was such a cocktease, fuck you Kubo.
Yoruichi - Last seen early June 2010 (Chapter 406)

Yummy dark skinned ninja girl. I think I love all of Bleach's playful characters from the old days. Was fun when Ichigo was surrounded by people who freaked him out and she plays off Urahara very well.
There's other minor characters I miss as well (Ururu, Karin, Kuukaku), but mostly because they ground the show thematically not because they're necessarily favorites. I do want them back doe.
In Kubo's defense I have seen some of my favorite characters in the last four months (Urahara, Mayuri, Rukia, Shunsui) but I'm scared to death that they'll disappear again until 2015 at any time. Kubo took A LOT of multi-week breaks last year (41 chapters in 52 weeks).
Yoruichi -- .... FAP
Also grown Neliel... mmm
Easily one of the dumbest chapters in the entire manga lol. Was gonna say the dumbest, but then I remembered "CUT OFF MY ARM AND LEG TOO FOR FAIR FITE!"
The only thing of value in the entire chapter is confirmation that Ishida is trying to pull some shit and didn't actually defect.
Yoruichi and Urahara are two of my favorite character in Bleach.
And hey, while we all miss Kenny, what about Yachiru?
I think that's the painful thing: There are actually some pretty damn interesting characters in Bleach we don't see enough of.
With our luck, we're going to see Keigo again before Kenpachi.
I'm confused at how much hate this chapter is getting here.
Kubo is finally revealing the origin of the current main villain, and it's got seriously awesome horroresque vibes, it explains some of the weirdness of previous chapters (like Bach having KG9 and Cang Du killed), it shows which side Uryu is on, how much he's screwed, and it gives information on the letters that he gives out.
Everywhere except for here is mostly positive on this chapter, including me (I think it's the best chapter in quite a while), but everyone here seems to hate it. In comparison, I thought Naruto sucked; nothing happened except for revealing that Spiral Zetsu was using an unexplained golem thing out of nowhere to fight the Kages, Hinata failing again, and the main characters dying (except not, because they're not going to die).
I'm seriously baffled.
I find the idea of another of Bleach's Big Bads sitting on a throne and grinning smugly like it's all going according to plan quite repellent.
