That annoyed me too, but then I remember this is the arc that said a fucking fodder guy could cancel out Yamamoto's flames. My bullshit meter is pretty long right now.

What are the odds that Aizen piggy backs a ride up to the Soul King?
Aizen better not show up and say this is all part of his plan and that he's been free the whole time..
damn it.. now you've got me thinking about it..........
Spoiler: show
In less crazy, glad there are people who won't care about fighting the four Qunicy chicks now. Also, looking forward to Byakuya poking fun at Kenpachi.
So the whole time all Aizen wanted was a change of clothes.
The king's key is a pair of clothes.
So instead of killing Yamamoto take his clothes?
fucking terrible.
There is a possibility they are aware of the "security flaw" and that they are aware he will attempt to invade. Perhaps the King and the zero squad really just don't fear the quincy. Maybe they'll enter and the King will just one-shot the fucker and in the end the King will be the real bad dude. Maybe he goes all "you couldn't protect soul society" blah blah and by some villian logic try to wipe it(soul society) clean of the failures, forcing Ichigo to step in to save the people he's come to know over the years... and in the end, finally protect everyone by defeating the soul king and possibly taking his place as guardian of both worlds... Ya know since protecting everyone is one of the strongest motivations he has to get stronger.
I mean, unlikely? yah, but somehow I think the Soul king is either going to be a huge dick/finalboss or someone we've known all along. Not really enough time here to flesh out his character otherwise I imagine.
Presumably its only the clothes the royal guard gave him, hence why only they would function as a "key", even though they arnt unlocking shit just nullifying barriers.
Or maybe they'll find the king already dead with Aizen sitting on the throne all like fuck y'all.
The question really is how the hell would the Royal Guard *not* know of this limitation? They're hyping it as though Bach fears the Royal Guard (amagad Royal Guard will be here soon, let's leave) but then a year later or so suddenly he's going to the palace (amagad Royal Guard nobody lol)?
I mean... if the Royal Guard were COMING after they killed Yamamoto, why wouldn't he just take advantage of the opening at THAT moment?!
I'm just glad we'll get to see hisagi bankai already. Take the little wins where you can.
Why is this even a problem? Aren't the King and his guards suppose to be the strongest? Didn't they just finish training the good guys?
Do we even know what happens if the king dies? The king doesn't seem to have done anything in the series so far. Seems like Ichigo should be wondering why he should be protecting him instead of making sure his buddies don't get killed.
Didn't the other people who went to the soul king's palace also get new clothes? I mean, surely they had to have exited in the same manner Ichigo did? Couldn't he have just snuck in then instead of announcing it to everyone?
Better yet, can't he just kill one of the weaker ones (like Renji) and steal his clothes? Instead of bothering with Ichigo.
STOP MAKING SENSE
Rukia and Renji left much earlier then Ichigo. Where Ichigo powered his way through snake way after learning the spirit bomb from king kai to make it into the 11th hour to save his friends (but not all of them) where his power level is over !!!9000!!!
So why would they let the others take a shortcut safely but allow Ichigo to take a longer road that leaves them wide open?
Because shounen
