I thought it was stated that zero squad isn't necessarily the strongest of all shinigami; but that all of them - while all captain or higher in power - had all done something to earn the promotion, like invent the swords etc.

Hence why Yama could be stronger but still not in it.

Then again, it was also said somewhere that each one of them were stronger than all the 13 squads by themselves. Although that was way before this arc, so Iunno

Yama himself said in the 1000 years that hes been the captain there hasn't been a shinigami born stronger than him and that is why he was still the commander.

It's given to the strongest, not necessarily the most powerful.

I think you guys are just confusing yourselves. Again, I still think Yama was the most powerful with the zero squard right behind him. It's just that the gap between them and the gotei 13 is huge.

Kenpachi is just the title given to whoever defeats/kills the previous Squad 11 captain.

They literally say Kenpachi is the title of the strongest shingami. Not sure what the difference between strongest and most powerful is (that sounds like the exact same thing), so not sure what to say about that lol

Not confused, I just think Kubo's power levels are bullshit and he constantly calls multiple people the most powerful.

I gotta agree with Eurell. I think Kubo is just terrible with determining "power levels"

remember the vizards when they first showed up against Aizen? Only to be the most useless pieces of fucking shit in the world. They're pretty much Chad +1. The most useful (to me) is Hachi. Everyone else is tits-on-a-boar level of usefulness

I hope that the clothing bitch isn't really dead because I liked her a lot. But if that's the case then the zero squad is one of the biggest letdowns in the series.

Wat? The vizards were the only reason they were even able to take down the top 3 espada. Yeah Kensei got Kensei'd by Wonderweiss but that was probably the only shitty uselessness they showed.

It could be Kubo being Kubo, but I imagine by "Strongest" they could simply mean actual physical strength. Zaraki has always been a badass with a sword. No Kido, not even Shikai, just brute raw-force power. Doesn't mean "No Shikai" is a requirement, just exceptional Sword skill/strength perhaps.

"Most Powerful" could be simply they could wreck face with whatever means, in Yama's case, his sword is incredibly powerful, he may not necessarily be physically stronger than Zaraki, but his Shikai/etc more than make up for it.

Just went and looked at past chapters and it says that the combined strength of the zero squad is greater than the gotei 13. so its not each person but all of them put together.

Lets also not forget that these Quincies obviously already know about the Zero Squad but were more concerned with making sure they had some way to take out Zaraki than even mentioning the Zero Squad.
