I'd be less pissed if they went the "I'm just too strong to be affected by your shit" route. They did that with Aizen basically, when Soifon's shikai didn't kill him, basically just saying "all enfeebling powers are inherently just a battle between the two opponent's spirt energy."

It's even a plausible/likely answer given the fact that he's absorbed the power of how many "higher than captain level" quincy thus far...

But instead Kubo keeps going the "my power is whatever the fuck I want it to be" route.

I'll come back to read Ken chapters. And that's all. So unless someone says he's back I won't be reading it. He's pretty much the only thing I truly enjoyed about the manga in the past year or so. Not saying it hasn't had some up moments, but most of it has been pretty bad.

Is it really such a new idea this time though? This dude makes me think of the Hogyouku.
It grants wishes, imprints (numbers instead of letters), feeds on souls and was in a dormant state and did the whole waking from slumber type deal blah blah.

I'm not sure why anyone would assume they'd be enemies. Aizen may not want to work for Bach, but he certainly doesn't want to protect the soul king, and has no love for the soul society.

With Bach being a demi god however, I'm curious just how powerful the Soul King is. The one glimpse of him we've seen has him looking like a god.

Also, in that panel quoted above, about the balance of souls shifting, were they meaning because they were killing so many Shinagami? Or some other reason?
