I mean, Aizen pulled easily as much shit out of his ass if not more, than Yhwach. Wonderweiss created explicitly to negate Ryuujin Jakka? My bankai can make you see anything I want for as long as I want? The Hogyoku was just one giant black ball of bullshit. Gin blows my torso apart and takes my heart? Lemme just put that back in there and obliterate Gin for good measure. Kisuke, Isshin and Yoruichi run my show? Hogyoku power up. Ichigo PALMS MY FUCKING FACE? Hogyoku power up. ICHIGO SLICES MY ENTIRE BEING IN HALF? DAMN STRAIGHT HOGYOKU POWER UP. What stops him? A fucking kido from eight thousand chapters ago, and he still isn't even dead, because even after rejecting him the Hogyoku is still somehow preventing him from being killed.

Aizen was only good up until the major fight. Then it was all downhill from there. Honestly Ginjo had more depth and even then the villains have always been the same. It's like he can't write a villain to be interesting so he just gives them abilities that counter whoever they're fighting at the time.

Aizen - Shikai, Kido, Hogo level 1, shikai, shikai, hogo, hogo, hogo, hogo, defeated.

Ginjo - fullbring, syke Shikai, bankai, hollow, defeated.

Bach - Quincy, Royd/Loyd, bankai theft, shadow thing, zangetsu, auswahlen, schrift bullshit, and now motherfucker is Hakutaku. He still has the stolen shit, vollstandig, sklaverei, and the ranso tensajigger to use before his final ability will be revealed.

Kubo wrote himself into a corner.

The second Aizen went with the Superman Slick, his reign as the best villain ever was over, but everything before that was immaculate.

Literally one of the best anime moments, full stop.

Because Kubo wrote characters and wanted them to be strong but doesn't know how to keep them interesting. That's why he introduced two characters in this arc that were immediately killed and then retconned Yam's VC to be second to him.

Even then, the Espada arc was still amazing up until either the Grimmjow or Ulquiorra fight, can't recall exactly. It was after that shit it started to go wtf random with powerups and convenient abilities.

Hollow Ichigo vs Ulquiorra was the bomb. The fight with Grimmjow was well animated but pretty weak as far as the actual battle went. "Sorry Grimmjow, I can't afford to sustain any more injuries," was just SO FUCKING CHEESY WHY DID PEOPLE WANT THAT CLOWN BACK GHERTHRTH

We still need more adult Nel.

Personally I still enjoyed it a lot until they were fighting the top three in Karakura. The point it started going down for me specifically coincides with Starrk's defeat. From there on it was downhill. A lot of bs in the Aizen final fight, and the manga should have ended there. A terrible filler arc followed and now this mess...which gets worse at every chapter. Sob.

I feel like we were annoyed with respect to the fact we knew that any fight Aizen got into with anyone other than Ichigo would end in "YOU WERE UNDER GENJUTSU ALL THE TIME" and it felt like a gigantic waste of time.

But I think we were far more amused by Aizen's trolling (cue Hinamori) than we are with the plotkai that Ywach pulls.

Basically, the quality drop between the Espada and Quincy arcs is there, but not nearly as severe as the drop between Soul Society and Espada. Aizen started off really well but ended poorly. Ywach has never been anything but undisguised plotkai.

We don't have reason to really hate Ywach or even care for the Zero squad all that much. At least with Aizen, we had him faking his death and playing master manipulator for a while, including framing Urahara for the Vaizard incident. A lot more to go on than some people way back when touched a black baby and they got powers while the baby got better each time.

The rest is just too-fucking-big-cast-itis with symptoms of convenient villains and too much time spent on shit nobody cares about.

The Quinciys in general all feel like complete throwaways. Who's the most memorable one besides boss and sub boss? The bomb chick? With the Espadas they were all at least properly built up to where we felt a little bit of that oh shit moment when they came into battle. Fuck they all had at least a legit story maybe minus one or two. Sternritters were all ass pulled out of nowhere.

I also disagree with the "we shouldn't care about zero squad" train of thought. Ever since the turn back the pendulum arc so many years back the hype was set for this squad. The hype grew even greater when Ywhach and his crew retreated after defeating Yamamoto because they knew they would show up shortly. For them to still lose cuz Kubo is ridiculous.

It's all bullshit and Kubo is absolutely fucking terrible at handling characters he has at the moment, so he just randomly creates new ones when convenient.
