If you really want to see some good examples, take a look at Hajime no Ippo. The hair refinements make me laugh the most. OG Ippo's hair looks hilarious compared to his current look, even though the actual hairstyle is 100% identical.

No timeskip changes or anything. Just the evolution of the artists' style.

A lot of artists on serials in general, I think. There's a stark difference between Carlos Pacheco's late nineties work and today, as well as Joe Madureira and John Romita, Jr., for example.

Which leaves hope that Attack on Titan's creator has room to improve.

Fujishima started out pretty bad as an artist, got much better with time, and at some point he just went through a bunch of stylistic evolutions in the way he drew hair/eyes/faces even after he was a legitimately good artist.

I have zero issues reading Bleach every week because it's pretty easily one of the (if not the) best drawn mangas around. As someone who dabbles in drawing from time to time, he's the artist I look to the most when trying to learn how something might look.

Didn't know he did that manga (since I've never read it or really cared about it) but that's an interesting tidbit.

Personal artistic experience, faces are a pain in the ass even if you try to follow guides. Hands are runner up. Anime-style is arguably a bit easier, though, especially in downplaying the nose area. Either way, can relate to feeling like you're improving even though I'm personally unhappy with my own ability, even if more in hobby.

The writing on Air Gear and Gantz we both Bleach tier bad, but they were both really slick, polished artists by the end of those books. Takeshi Obata and Yusuke Murata are those dudes that everyone likes, because they're consistently clean and detailed. Vagabond and Blade of the Immortal stay gritty and illustrative, with their bold, heavy approach to line and willingness to experiment with the tools they use.

Zetman and Berzerk are just plain GOAT. They're the perfect blend of polish and weight in my mind.

I'll try to circle back after work and toss in some reference images.

Yeah his improvement as an artist is amazing. Just look at the last couple compared to the first it's like a completely different person did the drawings. It's actually even more stunning if you go back and look at his manga before OMG and see how far he's come.

Murata, Kubo, and Ogure Ito are easily top three for me. Ito especially, some of the details that guy puts out is amazing. Tenjho Tengo towards the end had some of the most incredible panels I've ever seen in a manga. Boichi is awesome too, but sometimes his females look all kinds of weird lol.

Don't get me wrong, I dig Boichi's stuff. I even bought a few volumes of Raqiya and that Trigun anthology when I first found his stuff. He has the worst case of chronic sameface (and for women sameeverything) that I've ever seen in someone who is otherwise so talented.

I think he's been progressing in terms of anatomy and character diversity on Wallman, I think it'll be the one where he really makes his mark if he can nail it.
