Inb4 Ukitake was the true Soul King all along!
Spoiler: show
A whole lot of nothing this chapter.
How can cat believe reishi wires will do anything to restrain? Why did tits mcgee use santen instead of soten?
So confuse. So hurt.
It doesn't matter anyways, Bach knows all. They need one thing to win this battle against him...
Spoiler: show
Ukitake soul kings son. calling it
Something something tuberculosis something something coughing something something sakura petals something dying with honor.
I think I hit all of those frail, "weak constitution" Japanese samurai tropes in one go. Maybe adding a little poetry in there as well.
Kind of expecting Uryuu to come in and restore the soul king since he shares the "A" schrift/letter. Maybe as a sacrifice because shonen.
So Ukitake is probably not Captain TB at all. He's probably Captain My Body Can't Handle My Divinity.
EDIT: Either that or he's using this as the segway into the next story arc that revolves around restoring the Soul King. A two year long story arc that then segways into another story arc that totally forgets about the Soul King thing.
Ukitake-ing intensifies.
We got to see Karin and Yuzu, so I'm gonna call this chapter a success.
Like everything else Kubo lately the Soul King is a complete disappointment. So he was pretty much a brick and could do nothing to defend himself.
Which is funny, because he had arms and legs before. I bet something is up.
I wonder if that Kamikake thing Ukitake did eight thousand chapters ago is about to come back into play.
I would assume so. Let's remember Shunsui is also playing a random visit to Central 46.
Watch them both be projections of the SK sent down because he was bored/dreaming, but now that his body's been injured, they'll all poof back, heal him, then reunite as single entity to buttfuck Ywach and maybe give us an idea as to why Aizen was so scared of him. He'll also get 4 arms so he can quad-wield with all their zanpakuto abilities.
Actually, given the fact that the only other person we've seen dual wield is a Split Soul Quincy/Shinigama, it's not a stretch to think they have similar link to the Quincy.
Though I think this is unlikely since their swords appear to be similar to each other, rather than two distinct entities.
Also, Mayuri. Where?
That dude always comes out of some dusty old cellar with some serious plotkai.
