I think the only real mystery left is the question of how much of this was eventually planned by Kubo. The panel dredge from the Save Rukia arc makes it look like this was planned from the start, but then again Kubo goes back and reads his whole manga when he takes his breaks so he could have just created an asspull which ties directly into that one panel.

Ichigo becomes Soul King and anchor of the world in final chapter. Next year, new Kubo series where Ichigo awakens at the end of the world and must gather all souls to save them, including the souls of his nakama. Working title is Ichigo Returns: Bleach.

Sorry about that, was away from the thread for a minute, but Toki got you. Ukitake basically had his lungs sacrificed so he could live an unnatural life. Even the black tendrils covering him in that one panel is very similar to those in FMA when Ed and Al lost their body/parts.

Did Aizen side with the Quincy (since his goal was to kill the Soul King as well), meaning he was actually just waiting in the prison, or did he regain all his powers in two years and was able to break free?
