I'm guessing Ukitake isn't truly dead, or won't die from this from how it sounded. Kind of hope he doesn't because they made him out to be a strong motherfucker. We rarely got to see him fight.

I feel the same. I always assumed he is one of the strongest characters in Bleach and I'd like to see him go all out.

Not really. Think of it this way. Perhaps his bankai has to do with distorting the sense of time, since spatial perception is technically a sense.

I think the entire point of sealing him was that even though the Hogyoku was removed, it had changed him such that they could not kill him. At least, I'm pretty sure I remember reading that somewhere.

I want to say the zanpaktou arc explained that, but people will probably fuss about that because it wasn't part of the manga even though Kubo had a large amount of influence on that arc.

You're basically saying he spent approximately 87,641 hours (or just shy of 10 Earth Years) in the Dangai. It's a stretch, but this is Kubo we are talking about. He could have forgotten his own Dangai plotline.

When a Zanpaktou is broken, its wielder can reconstruct it simply by calling upon the sword to release its shikai again, right?. As Nimaiya explained, only zanbaktou that break in their bankai state need his personal attention to be reforged. Aizen has never shown us his bankai. When kyoka suigetsu crumbled away it was in its shikai state. When Urahara used that super special kyujurokkei kakafumetsu kido on Aizen, it convinced the hogyoku to reject him due to his weakened state, which did away ONLY with all the additional powers the hogyoku itself granted Aizen, not his innate zanpaktou powers and IMMENSE natural reiatsu.

If the gotei 13 had no knowledge of his shikai's true ability and always asserted he was just a powerful water element specialist, it stands to reason he must have used complete hypnosis to devise a hoax water-based bankai of some sort to present Yama et al when seeking captain rank (as all captain besides the 11th's inherited Zaraki must present a bankai). If Nimaiya's title is "God of the Sword" and asserts to personally know every zanpaktou (chiefly because he claims he's CREATED THEM ALL HIMSELF), how did the gotei not get a message from the royal guard saying that Aizen's demonstration was a ruse? For the same reason they didn't get involved in all of the other pleb soul society conflicts thus far I guess.

I'm pretty certain that, since he's had time in that chair to recover from (1)Ichigo's attack, (2)the loss of the hogyoku, and (3)Urahara's kido, Aizen can still call upon the use of his sword at any time, and the seals were placed on him merely as a means to prevent mind-fuckery in that precise moment of his compromised/damaged state in the immediate aftermath of that battle. But sadly, with his shikai ability as OP as it is, I feel Kubo could easily explain his current manipulation with a cheap bankai reveal: "Actually, I released my bankai while I was in the dangai. It's real strong. Here's like 6 pages of panels explaining exactly how it worked, and why I'm an entirely worse problem to have than Bach. Don't worry though because Bach is also strong, and Ichigo will win against everyone. Also I had Hitsugaya sword Momo again." Next Thursday will be fun but I don't expect the glory of the arrancar arc. This arc is a mess.

except we know this to be hella false, because the entire reason they all thought ichigo had a chance to win originally was because he was the only one out of them that hadn't seen his release, and therefore could fight him without his senses being fucked.
