If high level arrancar could open a portal anytime they wanted straight to the soul palace, Aizen didn't need to sacrifice a town to make a soul key.

They purposely showed some kind of device prior to the gargantua being opened. Safe to say Urahara had some say in it, especially since it was Yourichi that opened it and not Grimmjow.

I think some are forgetting there's a giant fucking hole between SS and the RP. Only reason a gargantua would work now is likely due to that barrier breach.

The question of how they get up also totally makes sense since their portable escalator isn't there.

If that's the real case, why would Urahara bother with whatever the hell he's doing and just use this mode of transportation. Just idol though

Stepping too deep into Bleach science is probably a bad idea. But sort of like how going from the Living World to Soul Society required "aiming" to wind up in the right place, I wouldn't be surprised if Garganta tech had the same issue.

It's pretty obvious that Grimmy and Urahara worked together to open the gate, but it was Grimmy himself who did the opening. Urahara needs an incantation to open his Garganta, and even then it's not the Descorrer type of gate (gate that looks like rows of teeth) which Arrancar can open. He did however give Yoruchi a type of rod which one can guess acts like a beacon for Grimmy to travel to. Gonna also guess that Urahara had been planning for this very contingency for a long time (since Chapter 518) to make use of Grimmy in this way as per their "agreement".
