It didn't. It just shows that Aizen had the Espada in his plans waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay before he decided to defect from Soul Society. He probably reordered/renumbered his Espada immediately after obtaining the Hōgyoku (using it to create new Vastro Lorde class Menos, converting Gillian & Adjucas into Vastro Lorde, removing masks from all of them to create more powerful Arrancar).

A better question that should be asked is what was he using prior to the Hōgyoku to create his former Espada? For example, Dordoni, Cirucci, & Gantenbainne.

A lot of the natural born Arrancar were still Espada though, like Starrk, Barragan, and Ulquiorra, so I imagine they could have been a lot stronger if they had been transformed by the Hogyoku instead.

Indeed, and that was the exact reason why Aizen went about creating his Hogyoku in the first place. That and creating Wonderweiss for the sole purpose of cockblocking Old Man Yama. Urahara perfected his Hogyoku before Aizen, and it set off the entire rescuing Rukia arc.

As for Espada, he had to have had at least two iterations of teams before the one he formed when he was ready to do battle with the Gotei 13 (there was a team in between the current one and the Privarion Espada who got demoted).

If Bach is this powerful after absorbing the Soul King, it just supports the idea that the original Soul King was crystallized against his will (likely by the Soul Reapers after growing too powerful), else he could have easily fended off the Quincy attack and Bach's original absorption.
