The fight against Szayelaporro itself should be indicative enough. Most of his opponents had all of their internal organs individually crushed; Mayuri had Renji and Uryu in fighting condition in just a few hours. He even preemptively supplanted his own organs with fakes to make Szayel's attacks ineffective.

Shinigami medicine is some otherworldly shit. Ken is going to be fine, maybe even before this fight ends.

Mayuri playing healer really isn't without precedent. I've been rewatching the initial seasons on Netflix and in his fight against Uyru, he injected his arm after losing the first to basically regenerate. And given Unohana's zanpakuto was apparently more of a poison, I wouldn't be surprised if Mayuri could do the same inversion, too. He's just less likely to do it publicly and keep the result in a vial.

That's not how I read it. He merely paralyzed Kenpachi to keep the Left Arm from using Kenpachi's own strength against him.

Apparently the Left Arm (similar to the right arm?) can possess/control a person's own body, and thus the stronger a person is, the more damage they'll do to themselves. Reminds me of the Phalanx (thorns) defense in Diablo 2. The stronger the Barb, the more I destroyed them with my paladin :D.

Mayuri has always had the advantage against enemies that control/enfeeble opponents, so this isn't a surprise.

I'm not particularly thrilled about seeing future fights against the Soul King's two feet though...

Like, what the fuck is even the point of any of this? Seems like with Bach as the linchpin there's no real problem. Just keep *anyone* up there as the linchpin to keep the realities from combining back together to their (original?) form.

Anyway, Righty and Lefty are probably out in the field because of whatever he's done to crystalize/sleep/whatever. Bach presently isn't in this state, so I imagine this fight is just the old SK's remnants being manipulated and not Bach's himself.

As for why they're fighting, well, the dude literally just attacked the Soul Society, killed Yama, and there's whole overarching Quincy are the enemy of Shinigami thing that kicked off as early as Uryu's first appearance. One side won't be happy until the other is wiped out, especially since sealing one side away no longer really seems to be an option. And now that I think about it, the shinigami killing all those quincies hundreds of years ago might've been what put the SK in that state he was in now, even if unintentionally. Should he and Bach really have the same powers, it's possible he came to be doing what Bach is now. Just that got lost to history.

Otherwise being the linchpin is something we still need more info on. The best counter to that ideology came briefly from Aizen's rebuttal before getting sealed. He seemed to know the SK was up to no good in some capacity, which could include fooling people into believing he's needed. So, watch us find out that Aizen is the son of the SK's brother or something silly 3 years from now.
