6% is enough to royally fuck a Captain tier opponent. The fuck wasn't this introduced earlier? What if Yamamoto used 100% on Aizen?

Quite the refreshing chapter. Think of Nemu as a science experiment that Mayuri repeatedly failed at... then for some reason (7th Nemu, 7, divine number, God, etc - look at Nemu's eyes towards the end, they look like the soul king's eyes) he succeeds and this whole time he was sitting on his ultimate masterpiece while condescending to it at every turn.

It's a humbling moment for him and a great character moment too. I actually think these last two chapters gave Mayuri more character than when Kenny finally learned his sword's name.

Agreed. Thought the chapter was great. Nemu being more like his daughter that actually had to grow up and develop adds some dimensionality to it.

As for soul splitting, I don't try and make sense of Bleach powers. We had a guy who's power was just whatever he imagined. Bach's power is that he sees the future and (for some fucking reason) is thus immune to all attacks against him. Ichigo was a transcendent multi-dimensional god when he finally reconciled his hollow and soul reaper forms... and yet now that he's reconciled his hollow/SR/quincy forms all he gets is a dual wielding skill.

The soul infusing attacks seem to be strongly insinuated to be exclusive to Nemu, thus the whole backstory of a created soul. Great chapter IMO. Hope we get some finality to this fight next week.

This last arc has been fun to read. My only hope is that this winds up to a great ending. Hopefully this gets put on television sooner rather than later.

This is the best arc I've seen in awhile. Maybe Kubo is just telling his ideas to a ghostwriter and allowing THEM to do the heavy lifting.

Dude's such a good artist, too. When you can mix his great linework with actual compelling writing, you have good shit like this. I don't really care about the boss fight that much, but the narrative that's going on around it is good stuff.

Do you suppose she is the result of experimental cloning of the Soul King? Or artificial insemination? If Mayuri didn't have permission to do such a thing and stole the SK's genetic material it could explain why he was imprisoned by Central 46 (and continued his experiment after he was released).

On the other hand, his (lack of) ethical code is probably a good reason why he got jailed to begin with. Aizen's overall meddling probably did a number on SS's chain of command in the 100+ years he'd been doing his thing. After the Pendulum Arc incident, I doubt most "saner" groups would've kept Mayuri around, let alone give him squad command. My bigger question on Nemu being an SK clone: How'd he get the DNA? I mean, yeah, you could sort of have a standalone complex incident where SK is a naturally created phenomenon while Nemu is artificial, but if I'm recalling the chapter right, they did say she was made from nothing.

inb4 the eye thing is Handjob pulling a trump card and Nemu just sacrifices herself for no good reason.

Not sure I'd be a fan if it turned out Mayuri somehow gained genetic material of the soul king to create Nemu. Shit would be borderline hashirama Senju juice all over again with Ukitake and this Quincy as is.

The translation makes it seem very clear though that she was created from nothing.
