In Kenichi's case, there's only so many times you can blatantly regurgitate the same story over and over. Tits can only help for so long before you're ultimately cancelled. Kubo gets away with it mostly because his characters are actually interesting compared to Matseuna's.

Can't be Ishida's plan, just a tepid red herring. Ishida knows that Hasch'n'Bach can see through this diversion, and must therefore also know Ishida's true agenda (as yet still not revealed to TeamProtagonist or us readers).

He stops his barrage of heilig pfeil and fires a single seele schneider at Ichigo. It looks like all it does is act to create a larger reiatsu explosion than a heilig pfeil can so that it blows up the floor beneath them to put distance between the party and Hasch so Ishida can tell this little lie about his plans. But as we've seen time and again, Ishida ALWAYS has an ulterior motive when using a seele schneider in this manner.

Unless I'm missing something stupid, expect the explanation to turn up later when Ishida is monologuing to a nearly-dead Hasch.

Let's assume that Haschwald's ability is truly balancing good luck with bad luck. Ishida figured it out and was trying to trigger Hasch's ability without him knowing. In the beginning of the chapter, Hasch said "What good fortune.. Ishida Uryuu." But whose good fortune was it? If it was Hasch's, to prove that Ishida is a traitor, now it's going to be bad luck for Hasch himself. King wakes up, Hasch is back to normal or forced to sleep. 2 vs 1.

I suppose it would be giving too much credit to Kubo to think that Uryuu's actual plan was to have Hashbrown collect all the chips so that he could blow him to kingdom come.

Edit: Unrelated, but the panel layout on the pages with Uryuu and Ichigo was pretty cool I thought.

I got the impression from the hashbrown/burner finger dude flashback that these weren't quincies in the traditional sense, and just descendants of those who got their asses whooped by SS. I'm pretty sure their unique powers was already established as being given to them by Bach.
