Yay. Bankai.
Fuck though just ripping out his eye damn
Not really a fan of puppet-type bankais like Komamura's or Mayuri's. Hopefully his isn't really like them at all.
Well, not surprised scientists have puppet releases.
We haven't seen any bankai actually take out the enemy yet though... so we'll see a chapter or 2 of whoopass, then poison dude will counter/make one final move, then XXX will save the day (either Kisuke planted something on him already which causes his move to backfire, or someone else will step in).
Clearly she is going to kill him with kindness
Must say, the gift ring attack is a really cool and original ability. "Huh? It disappeared............... oh. Ouch."
I got interested in the name of Urahara's Bankai, so i did a little digging:
Cliffnotes version of my reading; Kwan Yin is the Tibetian version of the Virgin Mary. Shes a goddess of compassion. What that means for his bankai, if anything at all? Who knows. In China however Avalokitesvara is more usually represented as a beautiful white robed woman and is known as Kwan Yin.
Weird question, is this the first time Urahara has actually bled? I don't recall Aizen making him bleed during their fight. It's odd to me that the second he's actually bleeding he pops his bankai, when he's been in worse spots before and never used it. Plus, his shikai is crimson/blood based.
Dunno, maybe I'm reading way too much into this shit, but it was fun to contemplate.
I think its the first time anyone has landed a "not planned" hit on Urahara at all to be honest
I think this is the first time he's ever sustained damage, even in the Turn Back the Pendulum arc. Aside from this I think the only other time he's even been touched was when Ichigo first released Zangetsu and cut Kisuke's hat.
I think Isshin and Yoruichi took all the hits against Aizen.
I'm pretty sure it was a mix of both. The last panel he basically said "well you shouldn't have done that, stupid" as though he was intending to play with Askin but not get hit.
Also, his eye needed to adjust anyway. He was focusing on a hula hoop that turned into a wedding ring and by the time he noticed it has shrunk it was too late to dodge completely.
I get the feeling Askin is going to learn first hand why you don't make Urahara mad.
I think Wonderweiss surprised him once:

Yammy started using the same technique after and he adapted right away.
In that case I think it was more of a scientific whoa neeto a new attack then an actual caught off gaurd
Don't think those Balas ever actually hit him either, he was using those weird gigais.
Yeah, all correct. This is the real first damage dealt to him.
Maybe he can use Kyoraku's eyepatch from all those chapters Kubo forgot to draw it.
Or we end up learning he has fake/replaceable organs like Mayuri
