If I'm remembering right, Benihime's call-out was either Scream or Cry Out. How that somehow relates to him taking damage or the earlier suggested myth, who knows. Realistically, we also know his zanpakuto isn't really "good" for training, as told to Ichigo way back when. At this point, I'd almost expect some form of barrier hax that puts Orihime and Hachi to shame.

I always assumed that his bankai was unsuitable for training because it was too dangerous, as to only be capable of inflicting nothing less than certain death. I don't expect anything defensive; in fact, quite the contrary: a 1-hit KO.

Could be, but if the whole "goddess of compassion" thing is true, it seems odd something like that would be brutally offensive. Since Yoruichi is poisoned, her brother is bleeding out in a corner somewhere, and Urahara's eye got smashed, I'm thinking more of an area healing bankai. Fits in line with a compassion diety. Plus, it neatly explains the "isn't suitable for training" line from eons ago.

I want to be wrong and watch Urahara tear some ass with this thing though, if I'm being honest.

I called Urahara's Bankai a long time ago. I knew it was going to be woman I just didn't think she would be that big.

My predictions for what it will do.

First thing is she will heal Urahara's eye. Askin will praise him and say it's powers are impressive to be able to heal wounds from one of his most powerful attacks, but he is still going to lose. He keeps attacking and our favorite cat-girl-teaser takes a lot of damage but Bankai Benihime just keeps healing him. Askin says it's pointless because he can't keep this up forever. He says it's time to finish you off and prepares his ultra move. It's so brutal you don't see how anybody could survive it and Askin assumes Urahara is dead and starts to walk away. Que big flash of light/huge explosion and after the dust settles Kisuke is alive and well and Benihime has transformed and has gone into offensive mode and looks very menacing. Urahara explains that the more his Bankai heals the more rage and anger builds up against the person who injured it's master. He starts to attack and says, "Don't worry, it will be painless.." Chapter ends.

(The quote is what I would write cause I think that would sound cool. )

I dunno, chapter ended with Urahara threatening Askin before going b. Could it be related to the stuff he said about Mayuri and being a "true scientist"?

Actually I could go for that, but Hanatarou already has that ability. I'm betting it has something to do with blood because all of Urahara's discoveries have come from blood and analyzing it.

I'm going to guess Benehime isn't going to take kindly to someone injuring Urahara and that his Bankai uses blood somehow, and that Askin is going to die a painful death at the hands of his own ability.

And remember that his ability allowed him to neutralize a cero from Yammy and block hits as well. I'm thinking Askin is going get his ability used against him somehow or find it neutralized altogether.

Pretty sure one of his shikai releases was "Blood Princess" something. The shield he used when training Ichigo was Blood Mist Shield. Blood related ability would work well against Askin's ability.

Urahara was knocked out offscreen by Cocoon Aizen, so this definitely not the first time he took real damage.

It's not certain that he was bleeding, though; Aizen might have just KOed him without using his blade, and he couldn't use his bankai while unconscious anyway.

May have just feigned being knocked out, considering it was his plan that captured Aizen in the end, no?

Urahara's trap had already been implanted in Aizen by that time, so there was no need for him to actually show up other than for exposition.

Aizen walked around Karakura Town for a good half hour or so, so there was plenty of time for Urahara to regain consciousness and follow.
