Sword thing isn't new -- there was always a dispute if Kenpachi was already in Shikai (almost everyone believed this) or if it was unreleased. Now we know it was unreleased the entire time. Therefore, Kenpachi is one badasss son-of-a-bitch to have been fighting many opponents (including Ichigo, Unohana, Yhwach) with an unreleased zanpakuto.

Another thing that no one noticed... he seems to have gotten his arm back. He ripped it off when that Pernida dude twisted it into mush.

Fake Zangetsu already said that Kenpachi was weakening his sword by not caring about having a bond with it, so it's not like those of us that believed Kenpachi's and Yoruichi's statements about it actually believed he's been getting a poweruo from it.

Anyway, Kenpachi got his arm back from Mayuri's healing pod, which uses magic science.

The context was referring to Zaraki in specific, and while Ichigo tends to keep his zanpakuto in shikai, it still didn't start out that way.

I thought the whole "it's dark" part at the beginning was Kenpachi getting out of the tube.

Either way, hard to take damage to the good guys seriously when you've got Orihime, Nel, Hachi, Urahara, and others like Unohana (albeit gone) and anyone who can use healing kido.

Of that list, none have been around anyone long enough to matter and Urahara was only rumored to be a healing type up until just recently. He was always labeled the "smart as all fuck" type. And when was the last time Hachi healed someone outside his useless ass crew. Nel hasn't cured anyone save 2 people in H. Mundo and Orihime's healing powers became irrelevant a little over half way through that arc anyway.

Orihime is also with Ichigo which kind of precludes her from helping anyone other than maybe Chad if she backtracks.
