I've also interpreted Aizen's inability to perceive FGT Ichigo as him basically ascending to a level beyond everyone else. Think of it as the difference between 2D and 3D. Otherwise, I wouldn't be surprised that as shinigami achieve certain ranks, they're more or less instructed to train themselves to repress their pressure for the benefit of weaker folk. Once Aizen started strutting around, he was basically in zero fucks mode.

Conversely, I wouldn't put it past early Ichigo to just be subconsciously doing it given his whole protector persona. Some still got out, though, which could've arguably contributed to the nurturing of his friends' abilities. It just wouldn't be until he was seriously fighting that it'd come out, and now that I think about it, it probably wasn't until the Byakuya fight or so where the others were even in proximity of Ichigo. And by then they'd been exposed to other captains.

Aizen literally says as much when he realizes he can't sense Ichigo's presence. At first he believes Ichigo surrendered all his spiritual pressure in exchange for his absurd physical strength. Then he realizes the reason he can't sense him is because Ichigo is so far beyond him.

As far as not paralysing people, I think it probably has something to do with the fact that Ichigo is always leaking massive amounts of spiritual pressure because he's never had good control over it. It's the same reason Zangetsu is always released, and I expect that to paralyse (or disintegrate, like Aizen did from his chair), all your spiritual pressure needs to be concentrated around you, and Ichigo's isn't because it's constantly just pouring out of him.

All experienced Soul Reapers (like, seated ranks) have good control over their reiatsu, and thus don't hurt others with it unless they're fighting seriously or trying to crush someone with their reiatsu. Kenpachi is (was?) the only exception, where he had a lot of spiritual pressure radiating even when he wasn't fighting, which is why Ichigo, Ganju, and Hanataro were having so much trouble standing next to him when he first showed up, while having no problems with other Captains when they're inactive. Even Ichigo had some degree of control over his energy (after his first training session with Urahara), enough that he could at least not injure weaker characters when just walking around.

For example, look at when Byakuya showed up on the bridge. When he was just standing there and talking with Ganju, Ganju, Hanataro, and Rukia were completely fine. However, when Byakuya purposefully flared his reiatsu, Ganju could barely stand, and Rukia (who was powerless at the time) was forced to her hands and knees. The same goes for other Captains, like Yamamoto and Aizen when they reiatsu crushed Nanao and Grimmjow, respectively.

Other then when they're specifically attacking someone with their reiatsu, they exhibit the same effect on nearby weaker characters when they're fighting seriously, especially with released shikais/bankais; when Ichigo was fighting Byakuya on the hill, both in bankai, Orihime, Chad, etc. couldn't get close because of the flaring reiatsu, and everyone noted just how powerful Yamamoto's reiatsu was flaring after he roasted Driscoll in rage. Mullet Aizen and above had the same effect to a much greater degree, where nearby weaker entities were just getting vaporized instead of merely being unable to move or passing out.

To anyone with strength at least remotely close to their own, it does absolutely nothing, so it's only useful against characters you could easily stomp with minimal effort anyway, but it's good for intimidation, at least (or maybe AoE control if your shikai/bankai suck at that and you don't know kido).

Are people expecting Aizen to show up and actually contribute to something? Hasn't there be a great expanse of time and power ups between when he lost to Ichigo? THough he's a great strategist, I wouldn't see him doing anything fight-wise, especially with so few enemies left.

Not only is Aizen stated to be stronger than he was against Ichigo (somehow), but Ichigo lost the power he had against Aizen, and we don't know how his current full power stacks up to that yet. Aizen is still stronger than everyone other than Yhwach, and maybe Ichigo.

Yeah but this is Aizen and Bleach for that matter. You know they easily could pull some but all that's happened even "losing" was part of the plan and he's actually been secretly powering up and setting plans in motion while "imprisoned"

Oh there's gotta be at least 1+ year of this thing left. Gonna be lots of plot flashback. Lots of bankai still to be seen. Aizen shenanigans. Lots of folks unaccounted for (like the Fullbringers we saw with Ganju .... HOLY GOD 155 CHAPTERS AGO IN NOVEMBER 2012).

All I hope for at this point is that Hisagi's bankai is more impressive/useful than Ikkaku's.

I loved the fuck out of Ikkaku's bankai. It was something that fit him and his style to the letter. I was hoping it would have gotten revamped. Mayuri mentioned it so there's a chance he modified it like his own but who knows really.

Yes, chapter 560. Kensei and Rose dynamic entry to stop Mask Masculine from beating Hisagi. But it was only the MangaStream translation where Kensei says he's upset Hisagi never got the chance to show him the fruits of his "bankai training". Manga Panda just says "training".

Oh and I think his weapon is very cool. He's kind of a stale character otherwise. I'd like to see what sort of large scythe(s) result in his transformation.
