Still nothing to be mad about since it is a proven and canon skill. That's a lot better than waiting for, say Aizen, pulling something out his ass that you haven't seen but just go along with it because he's Aizen.

Wasn't necessarily destroyed per se. It started to dissolve or whatever but Aizen thought it was a sign he had reached a similar stage as final getsuga where he didn't need the sword anymore. But hard to say since he was immediately bound and been stuck since.

I'd say it's because Aizen is a walking talking pile of BS. Or to quote a translation of Gin I found from the Captains fight

Yes, but then Ichigo easliy surpassed him afterwards. He didn't even need to use Final Getsuga. He chose to use it for whatever reason, but Ichigo was manhandling Aizen after all of his transformations before he used Final Getsuga.

I think that was my biggest problem, was that it was totally useless as a move and unnecessary but then Kubo remembered "oh shit I said he was supposed to use this".

It would have been better to have a long fight then he busts it out in desperation.

Ichigo was manhandling him, but Aizen did have some pretty devastating attacks against Ichigo and made it clear that the cube wasn't going to let him lose (and would continue to evolve to let him surpass Ichigo). Ichigo didn't use FTG until after taking some serious hits.

Aizen also survived FGT attack, and only was stopped by Just-As-Planned's trap.

Doesn't really take away from it though. I mean this is Ichigo who had already surpassed all the other shinigami doing several months of super intensive training to get that new form and then burning all his power at once. And while he was being manhandled he was also evolving and getting stronger instead of weaker while Ichigo was slowly but surely taking damage. So did he really not need to? I mean even with using it Aizen still recovered so guarantee any normal attack would get regenerated and if it wasn't for Kisuke's seal he still would've lost in the end and the regular attacks weren't enough to weaken Aizen enough for the seal to work

I saw it as Ichigo using it at the best possible opportunity presented to him with the current situation. He just had his left arm completely incapacitated from one attack in Aizen's new form. Would've been foolish to continue fighting at that pace.

I liked it. Better than typical dbz Goku formula wherein saving a super powerful move for the last minute to win the day, which could've been used at the beginning to save a lot of ass beatings and deaths.

He only took one significant blow (on purpose, even) which was negating that ring explosion with his arm. He didn't use FGT out of desperation, he used it in an attempt to end it quickly before Aizen reached a point where it would definitely not work.

Ichigo's intention was always to use FGT to end it. It was just a matter of when he was going to use it.

Much like DBZ and Cell or Freeza, yea. Kubo still had more money to milk and probably promised a great ending... Then the editors were probably like "alright time's up dude, enough of this" and nixed it.

Thats the exact opposite of DBZ though lol. Toriyama is the one that wanted to stop it.
