Bach died by last chapter's sword swing. But he is strong enough to alter it in the extremely near future. Bach saw the image of Ichigo swinging his old shikai and thought that it wasn't the future because ichigo had a differently shaped sword.

Bleach's volume sales are still strong (even if not at blockbuster levels anymore), and I believe that next chapter is the 700th one if you include the non-standardly numbered chapters, so I doubt this is anything but Kubo himself ending it.

I'm unsure as to how you could claim that I'm doing so when the editors haven't made any statements at all regarding why Bleach is ending next chapter.

To that extent, I also wonder how much it's someone outside of Kubo doing this. A small example would be D. Grayman. It went from weekly to hiatus to monthly to cancellation to monthly back to hiatus. It was never a power house but it was also always consistent.

Just the way I've been piecing this together.

There's no doubt it feels rushed, but the fact that Yhwach had the dream of Ichigo killing him with his Shikai over ten chapters ago makes it seem like this was actually planned rather than abruptly canceled -- poorly planned, but still planned.

As an aside, apart from transit, when was the last time Ichigo used his Shikai..? The last time I can think of is his fight against Byakuya, but that can't be right.. can it??

There are a lot of long running Mangas out there that you can pick up far from their beginning and still enjoy. Naruto was a great example. A lot of us were reading these shits like 10 years ago or whatever when they started, and being some Japanese kid picking up bleach now it's probably boring, confusing, and inconsistent as fuck. The only ones still reading it are probably the ones from the beginning who are older now like us. Naruto didn't have that problem, kids new to Manga or to it could pick it up and enjoy it.

If you're talking about this specific version of his shikai (and not his Fullbring or dual wield versions), the last time he used it was against Dordonii at the beginning of Hueco Mundo.

No one was picking up bleach within the last 2-3 years and just getting into it, the only people that were reading it were people that have always read it. It probably wasn't getting any new, younger readers because it was so complicated inconsistent and stupid at times. Meanwhile other long running manga like Naruto you could pick up 2-3 years ago and enjoy even if you weren't a fan or into manga at all when it first started. Bleach isn't bringing in any new people, readers, or new sales, while other manga continuously bring in new readers. If you weren't reading bleach early on, its garbage and most people who read it admit to only reading it because they have been. Something like Naruto was the shit a few years ago, well into its life cycle.
