the 'secret' was that Yumi and Renji are the only ones that know Ikkaku can use Bankai
it was discussed a page or so back about how Yumi and matsumoto were trying to train for Bankai but couldnt do it because of how alike in personality they were to their zanpaktou.
i know, he "could" have learnt Bankai some time since then but i still think it is highly improbable

My original theory awhile back was that Isshin is the King (which would explain why Ichigo has so much power) and that the Key would actually just reveal who/where the King is and/or how to get to him. But it seemed too simple and why would the King have to hide on Earth, act like a normal Shinigami, etc....

zaraki doesnt even have a shikai and he can solo the world ;o

Back when Ichigo started his bankai training, Yoruichi said that both Ichigo and Zaraki's swords are always in their shikai form.

Also, awesome chapter. Yumichika and Ikkaku are my two favorite characters, so it's always nice to see them take center stage.

True, but you have to wonder.... It probably is the second most overpowered shikai, after Aizen's. I could easily see him wtfpwning someone like Yammy or that guy Rukia fought with it.

I think it's too early to suggest it is overpowered since we don't know its limits. There's often cases where someone gets trapped in what looks to be impossible to escape from only to have them blow it away with their reiatsu or something. Perhaps someone can cut up the vines before wrapped or simply outrun them or have too much energy to be absorbed etc.

I've always believed he doesn't. And probably will continue to believe that until I see the manga pages stating otherwise. I always thought Kenpachi was completely out of tune with his sword, so he couldn't do anything but wield it as a basic tool and thus it was just always in its old ragged form, not that it's a perma-release type. I actually remember Yoruchi saying Kenpachi didn't have his shikai, but that was both from the anime and a long ass time ago, so I could be wrong entirely.

I have a theory about Zangetsu, was looking over the manga a while back and for some weird reason Tessai almost shit his pants when Ichigo called out Zangetsu for the first time, could just be his high spirit power but I don't know. I think that his sword is some unique or rare sword, like Yama's Fire Sword and that stupid faggot who has the best Ice Sword, but with Ichigo it is like darkness or something. I don't think he has ever really said his sword next to any old school people so they might not know it is Zangetsu.

I am pretty positive that Isshin will be tied to the Zero Division or possibly Ichigo's Mom was royalty or something, but it kinda baffles me that the low level hollow killed her off.

also it was stated in the Official bleach book that zaraki does have shikai and it is a "constant release type"
though I dont have the book nor any pictures so this wont change any unbelievers minds.

In that manga chapter it never was confirmed that Kenpachi had it at release. Ichigo is the one that asked about Kenpachi's also being in always-on mode and Yoruichi never responded to that. The only thing said about Kenpachi there was that he's the only person to ever make captain without knowing his zanpakutou's name, which doesn't do anything but support my belief.

However, if it's in one of the additional books (written by the mangaka I assume) then I guess that's that, though I'd also like to see that book...not that it makes a big difference either way...
