Sad it's over, but I'm more disappointed with the ending than anything. After following it for over ten years, that ending was abysmal.

But, seeing as it was canceled, I guess we should be happy there was any ending?

Been lurking around this thread for the last 5-6 years, been reading for around 10? I'm sad to see this manga go solely due to the fact that I will no longer get to tune in weekly to my fellow BG'ers critical/lol-tastic reviews of this manga. You have all made reading this manga a much greater experience then it ever could have been, something reddit or any other forum could never have provided.

Bleach, the Olympic athlete who had a great showing at the qualifiers, gets to the finals and falls flat on their face a few times before breaking a leg on the landing. At least One Piece is still rocking it.

I will however blame Shonen Jump for cancelling the series. They cancel Bleach unceremoniously a few weeks/months before it was going to end on its own, yet they allow Togashi to release 1 chapter of HxH in pencil every 3 years with no protests. It's an atrocity.

You know, I'm actually glad the anime didn't continue now. It would just make me salty to see the ending of it.

Unbelievably the anime had a vastly superior ending to the manga. Nuts.

Yeah, I'm kind of scratching my head on the whole process and it's why I'm thinking more it's on Kubo's end. I mean, I get that sometimes long-running things need to be put to pasture, but at what point does a once-successful series garner the respect to let it finish on a high note? Likening it to Kenichi, in this case, seems accurate. No seeming attempt to push him to bigger monthly releases. Just... this.

I eagerly await the tragically overdone shit they put in its place only for it to flop. Or they try to blame piracy.

If your superiors feel you've wronged them, they will shelve you and neglect you until you become so dissatisfied and ashamed that you leave of your own volition.

It's like that scene in Last Samurai where Katsumoto's imprisoned by the imperial guard and they put a tonto in front of him and are like "Save us the trouble....." expecting him to seppuku.

I expect they gave Kubo such an ultimatum.

That's like the perfect description for what happened. And in a way it excuses Kubo from such a messy ending.
