This is only a valid argument if Naruto and One Piece also sucks balls, or has been sucking balls.

So far the only Shonen from Jump that has been consistently bullshit is Bleach, so it's not because of the target audience.

Funny. After the Chounin Exams Naruto has, as far as I'm concerned, been consistently shitty as far as plot, fights, character development, etc. goes. Not to mention that Kishimoto has a real habit of killing off any of the remotely interesting characters, leaving the ones that might as well have come out of a Pokemon episode.

I'm only saying that because the guy before me was going on about just how masterful kubo is for doing those extra work that his assistant probably do for him.

And yeah, you're right, I'll take back about other shonen series not sucking, they have their slums, but I just think bleach haven't been interesting since they left soul society, even more so since they entered hueco mundo.

I mean sure, some scenes are actually worth that 2 min clicking, like I guess grimmjoww and...I guess the pendulum arcs, but for the rest, it's just filling me with my usual rage fuel, especially on the last few captain/vice captain battle...even more especially on that fucking homo arrancar fight.

There are high and lows of all series I suppose, but Kubo's really doing a fine job in submerging the series into the mariana trench of mangadom the past few weeks, unfortunately that metaphor wasn't about the depth of his story either, but who knows, maybe I'm just too deluded into thinking he sucks at this point, I really couldn't tell anymore.

Are you legitimately saying Naruto has shitty plots, fights, character development, etc. when compared to the likes of Bleach's regurgitated girl gets kidnapped plotlines, dis mah true powah fights, and kurosaki-kun one-liner character development!?

The reason people are hating on Bleach is not because it's some cool bandwagon shit to do. It's because Kubo blatantly has no idea what to do with the manga at the moment. We were joking about Bleach pulling a Yu Yu Hakusho for fucks sake weeks ago yet here it is in all its comedic glory. We can all say we enjoy Bleach, the only difference between some of us is that some are genuinely enjoying it and others enjoy watching it a la trainwreck, a funny one might I add.

no i have a few original plots, 2 with some school life thrown into the mix, and 1 adventure thats jus allout climbing to the end

but im trying to decide for the large one im working on, if i should make it with some school life in it or make it all out wandering while sticking to the plot, and or a mix of both like bleach and negima

"Weeks ago" isn't enough credit. Did you see my post where i planned out bleach's next like 50 chapters, I pretty much nailed it up to this point. We were expecting Ichigo to do this kinda thing, but yeah here it is.

I know most of you say he has no Idea where to go with it, but I just can't accept that. It's bad right now for sure, but I honestly don't think he has no idea what to do, I still feel he's just dragging it along as far as he can for the $$$ and that he does know what to do he just is going to take his time getting there. I also think that with Naruto and One Piece being so good right now, bleach is on the sideburner for shounen and that he is better off keeping it dull while those 2 mangas sell books. Then when they get boring and stop selling, bleach will pick up and will get exciting again. That's how to look at it from a business perspective for maximum profit, and seeing that this is business, that's how it should be done.

Zilong thank you for the reply. That was a much better then your past few and I agree with pretty much the entirety of it. You bash so hard sometimes I guess it can be hard to see your actual points, cause some of them are very truthful. I don't mind the bashing, just sometimes it gets way out of hand and seems random and rage filled, just saying things just to say them cause they are pent up inside. It's obvious the manga is in a slump and that it's extremely predictable, but at least this last chapter or 2 it seems to be getting somewhere finally.

Hmm they said there would be another filler arc after the pendulum arc. Guess it was to be expected since the manga isn't too far ahead of the anime if they went straight back to where they left off.

Start by asking yourself what the setting of the story in. Are you trying to write a romance? A shonen manga? A mystery? Crime? Drama? Abstract?

Have a general idea for the genre. Then you can mix it up. It never hurts. Some of the best stories I've written started with a normal life and brought in supernatural elements. The only thing you have to remember is that you have to balance it out. You'll have to gradually fade out of the normal setting to tell your story but it should always come back to it somehow without scrambling the story you're trying to tell.

If you choose to write about school life, keep it about school life but introduce some sort of antagonist to it to keep it interesting. Character growth is more important than anything so there has to be a constant obstacle to overcome so that the characters can evolve in new ways.

If all you do is the Bleach approach, where characters that are good get thrown in the back seat and bad characters are given ridiculously stupid powerups for the sake of plot, then you'll go nowhere.

well i have some solid fragments on two of my story lines, one for my school life that will probably be supernatural, harem, action, comedy, shonen and schoollife that is your typical boy saves wolf, wolf be girl , girl be demon story. and one for my adventure {i need to seriously find a more better word for adventure...} which is gonna be probably classed as comedy, action

but for the storyline im working on now all i got is a lot of fight scenes a crapload of characters/backgrounds, and an enemy. but making the setting is whats getting me confused on what to do... any pointers??

Well, if you're going to do that don't set it in a high school... it'd be too much like Inuyasha.

If I were you, I'd set the setting somewhere that seems to fit the characters.

No fuedal Japan, no Japanese high school. You may even want to change the time period you're in.

PM me information about the enemy and what the point of conflict is. You always have to have a point of conflict, whether it's chasing a treasure or the enemy simply has a hidden agenda against the protagonist.
