The situation with Kaien and Aaroniero seems to have been resolved with Rukia's fight against #9, but whether or not it was a direct result of Aizen's tinkering is unknown. At the time of the Pendulum Arc, it seemed like Ukitake was trying to butter up Kaien to take up his Lieutenant's seat. Byakuya's still a runt at this point, so Rukia or her sister Hisana entering the scene is probably a while off, too.

Whether or not Aizen modified Grand Fisher or if was a natural evolution escapes me. I just recall them considering it a high-risk encounter and shinigami had been hunting it a long time. Whether or not Aizen sent it after Ichigo's mom is also an unknown, but there's a possibility stuff like that could be clarified if we learn more about Isshin. I know I still want to learn about how the Shiba clan fell from nobility and possibly how Kuukaku lost her arm. It'd likely explain her ties to Urahara and Yoruichi, too.

If my memory is correct, Aizen was explaining stuff, and he mentioned experiments on hollows to give them different powers and such. as he was mentioning that, a panel showed the hollow that killed Kien.
and I believe Isshin mentioned AIzen and the hyokuokenwhateverthing when he ran into Grand Fisher. plus we see some of the fraccion do stuff to him earlier on before that.

Grand Fisher was evading Shinigami for a long time. Then he comes back after the Soul Society Arc (and Bounto in the anime) after a scene where he's in a box or something evolving. Since it didn't seem very natural, I think the general consensus was he was a Hollow Aizen was experimenting on and just didn't evolve into a strong Arrancar. I doubt Aizen led to Ichigo's mom's death, but it'll be interesting to see when did he start communicating with hollows.

The Hollow that killed Kaien wasn't made by Aizen, but if I recall correctly, it had an ability that when it was defeated, it'd retreat to the Hollow world. That's when Aaroniero ate him (and we're assuming Aaroniero was upgraded by Aizen).

There's a scene, I think when Aizen's reappeared, captured Rukia, and has revealed his plan that he talks about how others had also done experiments to hollowify shinigami, some including research on hollows that could fuse with shinigami, and a scene occurs where Rukia remembers Kaien's death. It's never actually stated though that Aizen played a roll in that. Also, since the pendulum arc is before all that, it seems Aizen's worked out a way to hollowify shinigami, he just needed a way to make it more stable.

aizen already admitted to making the hollow that killed kaien, he says he had created hollows that could hide their spiritual pressure and even one that could make zanpaktou dissapear and even fuse with a shinigami

I would believe he started 100 years ago when he was getting ready to turn the old captains into hollows. I mean if he didn't start back then then how would he know how to change them ^^;

He stated when he was holding Rukia and talking about the Hyogyokou that he had experimented on hollows but never successfully made a hybrid, just ones with abilities like dissolving zanpakuto and fusing with shinigami. He specifically mentions this to Ichigo as the reason he was tracking Urahara's work.

What's strange to me is we don't know when/why Urahara originally started working on this sort of thing though. The first we actually see any hollow/shinigami work by Urahara is his trying to save the Vaizards, however just the fact that he could save them probably means he had been researching that sort of thing already to begin with. So either he has his own master plan of things or he knew about Aizen's (He may not have known it was Aizen specifically at the time) experiments and had been working on counter measures already.

Urahara was researching the disappearing souls for a while. The Gigai was the first invention for saving them. The Hyogyokou was the second.

God, Pendulum arc is over now. Sooo amazing. I read it in the manga but it's so much better animated. And by the way, does it look like next episodes filler won't last long? It doesn't look like any filler I've ever seen in Bleach except for those weird 1 or 2 episode fillers during the Soul Society arc.
