Look at the spoilered picture of Hitsu's face when he gets sliced. Why is it the bleach characters ALWAYS have that expression? It's a mixture between being wide-eyed and some form of apathy. I don't know, maybe it's just me but if half of your body is cut off I figured you'd be like "HOLY SHIT OWWWWWWW" instead of "What the..."

Has anyone else noticed that?

The expression we see is more of one that is given when there isn't time to react to a situation. It's a look of surprise/shock because they cannot believe that they have been fatally wounded in such a short frame of time.

Tummie pretty much answered, but this face is common when you're shocked/surprised. Of course, each artist have a different style, but surprised eyes will always look like this.

I guess it's because I'm a HUGE One Piece fan that I haven't noticed this, because in most cases the more climatic parts in the One Piece manga is covered with a bunch of scars/tears/blood/snot/abunchofshit that I don't notice their eyes. But now that you guys pointed it out, it makes sense.

One piece's panel have so many things you don't notice small details. Bleach takes 3 fucking full pages to zoom on something.

Shit, I bet you would get a better framerate than in the anime if you flipped all the page quickly.

I wouldn't remember this if the anime hadn't just shown it -- but Soi Fon probably forgot to tell him, kinda like she forgot to tell them about the 4 who were guarding the pillars. And as far as why they'd have limiters in place, I'd imagine since they had so many high powers suddenly show up in one place, it's gonna be felt far away and big effects on the real world. But apparently that wasn't a concern...

It's been applied knowledge since forever that Omeda is stupid as fuck, Vice Captain or not. He isn't worth telling anything really important as well. Also was a blatant cheap trick by Kubo to show off the Arrancar's power as opposed to the Captains/VCs (and that this fight cannot be won at all without Vizards/Ichigo).

Makes sense though. When Aizen originally revealed himself in Soul Society, he said the only way for either or a Shinigami or Hollow to surpass their limits was to erase the boundary between them. If these are supposed to be the strongest Arrancar, it makes sense that Captains wouldn't really stand a chance against them. Of course, it seems contradictory considering how things worked out for 5-9, but I think we've all had to suspend our ideas of consistency by now.
