That's what bother me with this. It makes no sense considering they mentioned Espada constantly change their place. What Nel represented anyway? Death by snoo-snoo? And every 100+ before they get downgraded?

It's really poor planning if that's what he had in mind since the beginning.

Barrigans statement was vague. He said they embody an aspect of death in which their powers relate to. He did say those are the 10 reasons people die, but I'm sure there could be more. He didn't straight out say "There are only 10 aspects of death". There could be more than just the main 10. It is possible I guess that the other ex-espada could have been something else entirely. Just like you guys are saying "well nel could have been Arrogance" or whatever, her old number is 3 which would be like sacrifice or something, so just because her spot was taken over doesn't necessarily mean that was their form of death. Would be the same for grims spot being taken and such.

and... who cares what Luppi's aspect was lol. If she was the same aspect as grim it would make some sense, if you remember the fight he toyed with everybody in the arms and wanted to squeeze the life out of them, kinda destructive lol. There isn't really too much plotkai here.

Agreed btw @ stark better have an amazing release. Halbiel's is fun to look at, Barrigans is AMAZING looking compared to most, and Yammi's is decent (a ripoff but decent).

Barrigan kinda kills the theory's of 1-4 or 1-3 being Vasto's. Yammi is somewhat human looking, Halbiel is, Ulq somewhat... Although it is a human skull.

The dub explaining a bit about the menos, adjuchas, and vastos aired tonight. From how they worded it, they made it sound like the 10 were all VLs since they could match or exceed a Captain's power. Could try comparing to the JP version to see how they talk about it, but I trust subbers about as much as I do dubs when it comes to such technicalities.

From watching the dub last night, Hitsu's explanation seemed like Soul Society would be doomed if Aizen had 10 VLs. I agree it was a little ambiguous.

Anyway, Kubo obviously made the Espada themes of Death up for filler. They would have served a great purpose earlier in the story when introducing themselves and their numbers... but introducing that concept now just seems like he's trying to think of where to go with the story.

Actually my take on the matter is this: All of them are Vastro Lorde, minus Aaroniero Arruruerie, who was stated upfront that it was a Gillian (which evolved)-- It's all about timing; Hitsugaya was explaining to Ichigo on Aizen's army and the stages of Meno, right? He made the inference that with 10+ Vastro Lorde, Aizen could pwn Soul Society. Did no one else find it ironic that IMMEDIATELY after Hitsugaya's lil arrancar-school lesson, the next scene shows Aizen commanding Ulquiorra and Yammy to show their findings to their "Twenty brothers"? It was if to say that that all of them are Vastro Lorde, confirming what Hitsugaya said and further foreshadowing a great danger to Karakura Town and Soul Society. I mean Aizen really didn't have to say "twenty brothers" at all, just saying "brothers" was fine (especially if Kubo wanted to leave people in the dark on who's Adjucas and who's Vastro Lorde).

Tite Kubo: I think it maintains a freshness because when I create manga, I don’t think about what’s going to happen—I just come up with an idea and let it flow. It’s a weekly installment, so I have a very short time to create manga, but the good thing is that because it’s short, I can come up with the idea and start creating it.

Tite Kubo: I don’t really face that kind of situation because it’s a long story and sometimes I forget what’s happened in the past, but I read the previous volumes of Bleach and that usually helps me to create and have a new idea.

And the same for the translated and raw manga. Ahh well, you have a point Souj. Kubo never really made anything clear on who's what after that rough explanation. The only other theory I have to suggest they are all Vastro Lorde is that none of them are constantly (or at all) eating other hollows to maintain their form for any of them to be Adjuchas.

Making shit up as you go kinda takes the fun out of things... but at the same time, well thought out planning could lead to repetitive storylines as well, so I can see how he free form plans things.

Also shouldn't knock him for forgetting what happens in his own manga; I'm sure over the course of a few years George Lucas too forgot a ton about Star Wars as well, leading him to constantly watch his movies/read his novels to remember the storyline for new ideas.
