Watching the story-line all over again animated doesn't make it seem so bad. Maybe it's the weekly anticipation for about a 3 minute progress to the story is what kills it for most people in the manga but I find myself rather enjoying the anime at the moment. The medium helps to translate the war aspect of the current situation a lot easier then its manga counterpart.

Kenpachi losing? thats... stretching it a little, but it can be believable because Kenpachi got himself injured a lot holding back, but Ikkaku? a stronger ichigo fought Renji, and had real trouble against him, while in flashbacks, Ikkaku fuckin trains and kicks the crap out of Renji.

Because Kubo is making this up as he goes along. And if that explanation doesn't work, then Byakuya, Kenpachi, and Ikkaku were all holding back when they fought Ichigo because they thought he was weak and he caught them off guard.

Also yeah, Ivankov is one of the most disturbing characters in One Piece. And that says a hell of a lot from a series that sports Mr.2 and Brooke.
