I'm loving it already, as long as they don't botch it like they did with Amagai. That, coupled with them talking about the Zanpakuto and their materialization appearance at the end, makes this arc already better than the last two fillers combined.

Of course 52 filler episodes. It's bleach afterall

And you know it's going to be ichigo or zaraki to save the day. zaraki doesn't rely on his zanpakuto or even know its name, and zangetsu probably is special and wont turn on ichigo. There, i just filled everyone in on your next 52 chapters Kubo, get back to the main story.

I read up on the episodes to come. Zangetsu actually turns on Ichigo too.

Decent start to the filler so far. It does have potential, but I am just worried about it getting dragged out too much. I'm really wondering how in the hell we are going to have fights when all the Shinigami's powers are basically gone though.

Seriously, he seems the most badass of the Zanpaktou at the moment. To be honest I almost thought he was Ikkaku's when I first saw him (I know he's supposed to be lazy but I figured he's 'awake' and raising hell). I might actually give this filler a shot and start actually watching Bleach again.

Remember how Hisagi said that he dislikes and fears his Zanpakuto? Now we see why.

Filler has potential to be better then the last 50~ chapters sans Pendulum Arc of the manga in my opinion.

The whole "Zaraki wasn't there" thing is just a plot device used to not reveal his zanpaktou to everyone, keeping it possibly reserved for the main canon of the story. Hisagi's zanpaktou doesn't surprise me at all, he did state that he's afraid of it. Was anyone else expecting Mayuri to pull some "Dumbass! This is MY zanpaktou!" badassery and make it's spirit go poof? Awesome episode either way, more excited to see next weeks episode then I am the manga.

Is this filler canon? I'm a manga reader and haven't watched the anime in a long time, but this filler has me very interested.

The filler is partially canon, yes. It has no place in the current Bleach timeline but the spirits themselves are canon (as designed and stated by Kubo).

This and the Ashido sole-shinigami arc in the Menos forest. He wanted Ashido to be a new character but didn't have time to put it into the manga because of the anime catching up.

Why not just stop making the manga and just write the script for the anime then?

I just hope it doesn't degenerate into the kind of animation the Bount Arc had. Oh man did that produce some lulzy screenshots.
