Damn, I had hoped to avoid this thread until after this weeks chapter is out but after watching the start of the filler arc I just can't

. Ok, agreed with this all has so much potential, but 52 eps just screams "drawn out" to me so I'm scared with where it's going to end up going. Honestly, I'm not complaining so long as it stays interesting and seriously, since the penduluum arc, there hasn't been much in the manga recently I'm dieing to see animated other than what's happened in the last 4-5 weeks that we wouldn't see for another year anyway.

Kid with the bells is hinamori's tobihume or w/e. Remember when matsumoto was fighting the 3 chimera chicks, hinamori shows up firing a fireball exactly like the one the kid throws around.

The sexy woman belonging to shunsui fits so well. I can just see him hitting on his zanpakuto lol.

Why not just stop making the manga and just write the script for the anime then?

That's why they make filler in the first place... because the manga has to get ahead. Kubo is a manga writer... and in order for the manga to stay relevant in JP society he has to crank out stories constantly. It would take too long to produce quality Bleach episodes 48 weeks a year (not including the breaks they take) and keep the animation *and* story up. Unfortunately, Japanese TV isn't like Western society where there are separate seasons in the fall and spring.

If a show like Bleach ever stopped for more than a week or two, it would lose popularity quickly.

That's why fillers are so essential to the show. If Kubo has to continue writing the major arcs and cut some things out once in a while to avoid 10-year fillers, it's honestly the best thing for it.

The biggest problem is that Bleach has incredibly short fillers. The Zanpakutou filler is going to get the manga quite a bit ahead of the anime if it is indeed a 52-episode stretch. That would amount to almost the entire soul society arc, which is good enough.

Since he's only given 15-20 pages a week to tell a story of 3-4 blank panels with slow pacing, he can't really afford to throw too many things in that might slow down the story even more.

I think you missed what I was saying Kuro
my point was that if it takes so much of his time to come up with a story for the manga, why is he taking so much of it for the anime.
I understand what and why fillers are/for, and I dont think he he should be messing with them when his main subject of work has imo been suffering a lot, most likely due to the fact he's trying to have 2 stories going at the same time.

Part of me wonders if the manga over the past year or so hasn't suffered due to preparation of this filler. We were already spread pretty character thin as is, but here this comes adding, what, a dozen or so zanpakuto spirits? Far as plot goes, we'll probably wind up seeing them all going against their owners at some point for an episode or two apiece, but there's still a lot they could slide in. Including things fans have been wondering about for years.

I guess I've always been someone that prefers anime over manga. One reason is seeing shit in motion, sure, but it allows for far more potential in storytelling than a few potentially mistranslated pages weekly. I wish we could jump ahead 3 months or so and see how this thing's built itself up, but for now we'll have to wait. We may know some generalizations to expect of the Bleach universe, but how things are about to unfold won't be burdened by the curse of adaptation that fuels the argument of the "manga is better!" crowd.

Well, that's kind of what I didn't like about it. It made Hacchi seem like he came in and was like "Yea, I actually paid attention to your fight. You won't win against me." and Barragan is just like "lol nothing can stop me".

I hope Hacchi pulls out his mask and can cast some forbidden kido shit to stop time and hax Barragan to pieces... because if the Vizard show up and get their ass kicked, this whole arc would have been a gigantic waste of time and buildup.

It's like getting blue balls from an unfinished handjob.
