Dattebayo Staff Arrested at Otakon [UPDATED]

Today at 5:57PM five members of the Dattebayo staff were arrested at the Baltimore Convention Center as they prepared for their panel as part of the Otakon Convention. Four uniformed police officers, along with legal counsel of a complaintent company, approached the stage shortly before the presentation was to begin. Witnesses said that along with the arrest, the officers seized the laptop of one of the group members, which was intended to be used for presentation purposes.

The officers, as well as the lawyers, would not respond to media inquires regarding the reason for these arrests beyond stating that they stemmed from the illegal reproduction of copyrighted works.

The panel, which was originally called "Fansubbing/Manga Scanlation" was recently renamed to "Dattebayo Fansubbing". Experts speculate that this may have alerted authorities to the location of the group members and left an opportunity for this course of action.

Witness reactions varied including one Richard Sequoa who said, "I just can't believe something like this could happen at our convention." Another witness, a Judy Hibertson, said, "I'm glad. This is what they get for their constant trolling. It's just not funny!"

When asked to comment, group member Interacti said, "I've been told by my lawyer not to say anything because of the sensitive nature of legal matters however this has been a trying experience and I'm glad my new cell-mate "Spikes" has been there to comfort me."
Update: July 22, 2007 - We've recently received further information that the arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday morning. We will continue to update as details are forthcoming.

since he did ask at least there is another group that subs bleach just as fast as DBif not some times faster. I haven't downloaded an ep from them but i hear the subs aren't bad.

Apparently, something weird happened with the raws to Bleach episode 135--the folks at Flomp-Rumbel (and most of the raw providers) didn't expect it to air today, but it did anyway, or something. Well, I don't really get it, but anyway, the gist of this news post is that episode 135 will be a little late. (Though, if episode 134 was any indication, I don't really think we'll be missing much. )

Also, the folks at Flomp-Rumbel asked me to pass along this message:

OK, people here is the explaination.

1. Fillers suck. (we all know that)
2. We have lives and wanna go partying~!
3. Festival in Japan and only raw out is S^M (Everyone knows I refuse to touch them with a 10ft pole.)
4. Expect your Bleach fix this weekend as the good high quality raw capture people will only do it when it's on the proper channels in good quality.
5. Our translator is also a girl...so she is out with her friends [refer to 2.] ALSO
6. I rather have quality then mediocre....soooo yeah...

Therefore, do not expect bleach today, sorry for the delay again but well meh we have lives like you guys and do this for free plus some of us have families. We are gonna aim to get our speed back next week...granted the following are met:

1. We get bored and dont wanna party
2. HQ raws
3. We aren't lazy or busy.
