Essentially Shunsui's ability for Katen Kyoukotsu is to turn children's games into attacks. The ability he uses in his duel with Starrk is to name the color you are wearing. The amount of damage dealt is proportional to the amount of the color on your clothing. Starrk figures it out and says "white", causing Shunsui to be cut open big time. Shunsui gets annoyed, throws off his captain robe, and yells "black!". Starrk gets cut open as the chapter ends.

Shunsui: My ability is to turn a child's play into reality
If you're the shadow-monster, you lose if your shadow gets stepped on (Hence why Stark was stabbed when he came down to the ground, he stepped on his shadow)
If you're the tall-monster, you win by being the taller one. You die if you lose and live if you win.

The new game begins where they have to name colors in order to attack. The way the game is played, you name the color you are wearing and the amount of damage done to the enemy is based on how much of the color you are wearing. Shunsui calls out grey to start, and stark is barely cut. Stark gets it and then calls out White and Shunsui is cut open. Then Shunsui talks about how his bankai(?) is a pain in the ass, so then he removes his hiori and wearing all black underneath calls out the color black which causes Stark to take major damage.

His shikai form in the filler makes some sense to me, assuming spoiler stuff is valid. Some titsy broad in a puffy dress can possibly be construed as motherly, and one would certainly expect a parent to play games with their kids. However, with Ukitake's filler form suggesting two kids as a possible throw-back to his two swords, I'm wondering if she's hiding something under the skirt. And no, I don't mean a penis. The whole skull motif might just be a joke for 'deadly games' in the end, though.

filler episode finally subbed. Not a ton goes on, but i will say omeda has to be the most useless person in the bleach world, and with some of the morons out there, that's saying alot.

At some point years ago I'd RPed in a Bleach theme just to pass the time. At one point I was approached by the Soifon player to play Omaeda. I'm still not sure if I should've been insulted or consider it a compliment they had faith in my ability to create outright stupidity, but I didn't do it either way. Slapstick, let alone the bad kind, has never really been my cup of tea.

*Love and Rose are looking in shock at what just happened
*The blade that Stark thought had stabbed him was pulled out in an instant

Stark: “What…the…hell…is…this…!?”

*As Stark says this he turns around and looks

*Stark’s shadow itself begins making noise and as it does so it starts to take shape. That shape slowly becomes Kyouraku.

*The figure carried a long swords in each hand and had a disturbing expression on its face
*Stark then asks Kyouraku, who’s now standing in front of him:

Stark: “…What was that technique…Diving in the shadows like that is sure some ridiculous technique…You mean to tell me you were hiding that one as well…”

Kyouraku: “Kage oni”, it’s not like I was hiding it. It’s just that this little one wasn’t in the mood before. My Katen Kyoukotsu’s ability is to turn children’s games into reality. Katen Kyoukotsu decides the rules of the game and anyone who falls within the area of its Reiatsu is forced to follow its rules—including me. For “Taka Oni” the one who goes up higher wins. For “Kage Oni” the one who gets their shadow stepped on loses…If you win you live and if you lose you die. It’s pretty selfish. And it’s pretty tiring being the one pushed around, even if it is for the sake of my adorable sword.”
　　
*As he says this, Kyouraku turns the sword in his right hand so that the tip of its blade points downward

Kyouraku: “Right?!”

*As he mumbles this to the sword, he stabs it right into the ground
*The point of the blade that had been stabbed into the ground flies up from the ground at Stark
*But Stark manages to narrowly avoid the attack by leaping in the air

Kyouraku: “That figures! You catch on quick!”

*Stark raises his right hand and a blade appears
*As the two cross blades

*Kyouraku then says over his sword…
Kyouraku: “-----“Iro Oni” – ‘Grey’”

Stark: “Dammi…”　
*Even though his right arm had just been cut by Kyouraku…that arm…
*Stark is overwhelmed by an odd sensation

Stark (thinking): “My wound is shallow…!? It felt like that attack was strong enough to rip off my arm…”Iro Oni” – ‘Grey’…my arm is grey-colored…but his body doesn’t have any grey on it…”

*Just as he was thinking this…
*He hears Kyouraku’s voice…

Kyouraku: “What’s wrong? It’s your turn. Look, just try saying the name of a color you want to cut. But you won’t be able to cut any color other than the one you say.”

*Stark with conviction, looks at Kyouraku and says:
Stark: “White”

*Kyouraku’s eyes go wide as if he’s surprised by Stark’s answer.
Kyouraku: “Damn”

*Stark’s sword cuts Kyouraku’s back
*Kyouraku, now bleeding a large amount from his back then says:

Kyouraku: “You got me. That was a good answer. In “Iro Oni” you can also be damaged if the name of the color you call out is cut by your opponent. On top of that, by calling out colors that are more and more risky for you, you can deal bigger blows. For you, “white” was the color that could both give and take the largest amount of damage…To think you’d be able to figure that out in one hit though…you really are a pain to deal with.”

*As he says this, Kyouraku attacks Stark

*As Stark fights back against Kyouraku’s attacks, he thinks about the decisions he made in the past

Stark (thinking back): “That’s my line. Why the hell do I have to fight someone as strong as this guy anyway? I was jealous of the weak ones. All of our friends would have their souls shaved away and disappear just by being around us. So out of loneliness I split my soul into two. Which one was the original, or were either of us even the original. That was the only way I could escape loneliness. I was jealous of the weak ones. If I was weak then I could certainly go with any number of other groups. I wanted to be weak, and if I couldn’t become weak then I at least wanted to have friends who were as strong as me…”

*All of a sudden, the number on Kyouraku’s robe flew in front of his eyes.
*Stark, now returned to his senses, cuts at it but Kyouraku isn’t there

*And at that moment, Kyouraku suddenly appears in front of Stark and after giving him a cold look says:

Kyouraku: “Black”

*And as he says this, he cuts stark right from the front
*Has it been decided…!?

To summarize Shunsui's shikai:

His sword (for this game) basically allowed strikes to land but the severity of the blow depended completely on the amount of color showing. The more color showing on your body, the stronger the attack - the attack, however, will only affect the color showing on the opponent's body.
