There, Unohana praises Ichigo.

She says he's the only one who can defeat Aizen.

And then goes on to explain the abilities and conditions of kyoukasuigetsu.


Yammi unloads a barrage of punches.

Kenpachi cuts off a finger.

He says he'll use that space to cut him down.

Byakuya and Mayuri convo.

They say something like, "why are you still here?"


Unohana says that only Ichigo can defeat Aizen because he hasn't seen his shikai.

And once one has seen Aizen's shikai it's useless.


Byakuya and Mayuri's convo.

Byakuya: "I've heard people say they believe in Ichigo's victory."

Etc, etc.

Ichigo: "I will defeat Aizen" Etc, etc.

well, if that's a true spoiler, at least we know Aizen really did destroy Ichigo and Renji that badly at the end of the SS arc.

Mayuri and Nemu are standing on a pillar, arms lifting up a globe.

Mayuri: "...I won't explain what's in there. You came through there and
if you go back you'll be in the real world.

Ichigo: "...Right"

Mayuri: "...You just have to be careful of your footing."

The garganta opening widens.

Mayuri: "If you take a wrong step you'll fall into the space between the real
world and hueco mundo and won't be able to return. Well, in that case
it would be interesting data, wouldn't it?"

Ichigo is shocked.

Mayuri: "...What?"

Ichigo: "...No, is just that I was thinking that when Urahara-san sent us off
he was also standing on a higher location and giving a talk."

An eternal battle...As they follow the faint glitter of light... Ichigo and Unohana are running.

Unohana:" ...Kurosaki-san. I have something I'd like to ask...You faced Aizen that previous time on that hill, didn't you?"

Ichigo: "That's right...so what?"

Unohana: "How was it?"

Ichigo: "How was it? It's was strong like a monster without even
using his hands or feet. It was completely one-sided even though
he didn't even use his shikai."

Ichigo: "Huh?"

Unohana: "That the difference in your power was so great is your
greatest fortune."

Ichigo is puzzled.

Unohana: "Right now I'll tell you, Kurosaki-san."

Unohana: "At the present time, of those who are in the real world, Soul Society, and Hueco Mundo, those who are able to resist Aizen Sousuke, includes only yourself."

Ichigo is surpsied. "What do you mean..."

Unohana: "I'll explain. His sword Kyoukasuigetsu's power, and the conditions to invoke it..."

Yammi unleases a barrage of punches. "Take this!!"

Four of the fingers on Yammi's right hand go flying.

Kenpachi is standing on Yammi's right arm.

He swings his sword.

Byakuya looks on. Behind him is Mayuri.

Byakuya: "...Why are you still here, Kurotsuchi Mayuri?"

Mayuri: "Well, I don't think you're even interested in the answer to that question."

Byakuya: "As for things that interest you, wouldn't there be more of them in the real world?
I was asking what your intentions are that you remain here."

Mayuri: "Oh, so you're being wary, huh? You can relax. I'm not undertaking anything that
would strike terror into you."

Byakuya glances at him. Mayuri looks down at him.

Mayuri:; "It's just that at this time this where is there are many interesting corpses. That's all.

Whenever the war in the real world is done, the garganta will open up on its own from that side.

And then I'll be able to have the bodies leisurely transported one by one to have them studied...!"

Byakuya glances at him.

Mayuri; "...What?"

is to show its shikai to the opponent.

the arrancar serving under Aizen Sousuke - including the Espada - it's possible that all of them fighting in the real world have witnessed it and been affected - All, except for you, Kurosaki Ichigo-san."

Ichigo is shocked.

Unohana: "You have captain class reiatsu, and you haven't seen Kyoukasuigetsu's shikai.

That advantage of yours is of tremendous importance in this war.

And truthfully, if that advantage is lost, this war will be finished.

Kurosaki-san...Whatever happens in the war ahead, please do not under any circumstances look at
Aizen Sousuke's shikai."

Mayuri, a bit peeved: "What!?

I'm asking you!! If you want to say something then say it!"

Byakuya: "I wasn't even thinking about what you said. I was surprised."

Mayuri: "...What?"

Byakuya: "I thought it sounded like you were saying that the war would be over after sending
Kurosaki Ichigo to the real world."

Mayuri is speechless.

Byakuya: "It sounds like you're saying you believe in Kurosaku Ichigo's victory."

Mayuri is speechless.

Ichigo: "...I understand. Thank you, Unohana-san. I'm glad I
heard it before the battle. That's all I needed to hear. Only me, huh?
If that's the case then it's obvious. I...will...defeat...Aizen."

Mayuri: "...Fool. I didn't mean it that way, Kuchiki Byakuya."

Byakuya closes his eyes and hangs his head.

We see a picture of Ichigo running.

To his comrades waiting in the real world...!

Very interesting that Byakuya senses something amiss with Mayuri... something is definitely not right. Also it's interesting that Aizen didn't even think Ichigo was worth using his shikai on.

I have a feeling Mayuri definitely either found something or learned something (possibly related to the bodies) while in the lab. More or less it seems like Byakuya busted Mayuri hiding something. Hopefully within the next couple of chapters we figure out just who's bodies where in the lab.

I can see that being the loophole Kubo uses in the fight. Ichigo didn't remember shit after he came out of the transformation in the Ulq fight. He was basically all "wtf, I cut off Ishida's hand and Ulq has half a body".

Aizen used his shikai on Barragan in order to allow Tousen and Gin the opportunity to slaughter his(Barragan's) underlings.

Zaraki seems like a character that should have been in TTGL, not even with a mech or anything, just running around fighting them in his normal berserker rages. Definitely up there in most awesome action anime characters ever.

Ichigo is supposed to beat someone who just one shoted one of the top espada? Seems like Kubo feels he hasn't been giving the main character enough attention and just wants to throw him back in somehow.

So many things can be gleamed from this chapter it's amazing. First off, the fact that Unohana, despite being one of the strongest captains in Soul Society, sees Ichigo as an equal, or higher than her simply by adding "-san" to the end of his name instead of "-kun". She also made a slight (or doesn't know) that Kyoukasuigetsu doesn't effect Tosen in the least. From there it really strikes me that she's banking more on the fact he's virtually the only person that hasn't seen Aizen's shikai to win the war, rather than counting on him to magically be stronger than Aizen to win.

Then there's the entire fact that despite some captains having condescending beliefs about Ichigo, they all virtually believe in him to defeat Aizen and no one else. Also now it seems the basis for the entire war was to clear the majority of the way of enemies for Ichigo to have an easier time getting to Aizen. I know it's standard plotkai procedure for the main character to save the world, but we all know Aizen-- I don't think any of us can speak of many manga in which there is "no hope" for the main character to defeat the final boss.



Just on the side I laughed my ass off when Kenpachi came into the battle in the anime, wreckshopped Wabisuke in a "shut the fuck up noob" manor, and just randomly raged everyone out of the way to get at Byakuya. This has to be some of the best times I've had with the anime in forever, even considering the main story. I'm sure this Byakuya vs Kenpachi fight has Draggy organismic as well, lol.
